Effectiveness of Silexan oral lavender essential oil compared to inhaled lavender essential oil aromatherapy for sleep in adults: a systematic review.
The objective of the review was to identify the effectiveness of Silexan oral lavender essential oil compared to inhaled lavender essential oil aromatherapy for sleep latency, sleep duration, sleep quality, disturbed sleep and anxiety in adult patients. ⋯ A comprehensive search of the literature uncovered no evidence related to the effectiveness of Silexan compared to inhaled lavender essential oil aromatherapy for sleep latency, sleep duration, sleep quality, disturbed sleep or anxiety in adult patients. Research is needed to determine if lavender essential oil aromatherapy, which is readily available worldwide, can be proven to be as effective as Silexan for improving sleep and anxiety in adult patients.

Comparative StudyEffectiveness of intrathecal nicardipine on cerebral vasospasm in non-traumatic subarachnoid hemorrhage: a systematic review.
The objective of this review was to determine the effectiveness of intrathecal nicardipine compared to usual care on cerebral vasospasm and its impact on the following outcome measures: mean flow velocities, angiographic and/or clinical vasospasm, and infection rates. ⋯ Although intrathecal nicardipine has shown potential to be effective in treating cerebral vasospasm, variance existed among those who received intrathecal nicardipine. In terms of safety, one study had no occurrences of associated bacterial meningitis and the other study had two reported cases of bacterial meningitis out of 50 among those who received intrathecal nicardipine. Limited studies on the use of intrathecal nicardipine following non-traumatic subarachnoid hemorrhage and lack of pooling of results for this review demonstrate the need for more research in this field.

Effectiveness of decision aids for smoking cessation in adults: a quantitative systematic review.
The objective of the review was to determine the effectiveness of the use of decision aids to facilitate the shared decision-making process between a person and a healthcare provider on smoking cessation rates, knowledge of smoking cessation methods and decisional quality. ⋯ The evidence suggests that decision aids may be effective in increasing smoking cessation knowledge and decisional quality while increasing quit attempts. There is, however, inconclusive evidence to support the definitive effectiveness of decision aids for long term and sustained smoking cessation.

Effectiveness of multisensory stimulation in managing neuropsychiatric symptoms in older adults with major neurocognitive disorder: a systematic review.
The objective of the review was to synthesize the effectiveness of multisensory stimulation in managing neuropsychiatric symptoms (NPS) in older adults with major neurocognitive disorder (NCD). ⋯ These findings suggest that multisensory stimulation could be an effective intervention for managing NPS in older adults with major NCD in a mild to severe stage, particularly for managing behavioral symptoms such as agitation. This research provides an indication of the likely effect of the multisensory stimulation on NPS such as agitation and anxiety, as well on cognitive status.
