Reliability, validity and relevance of needs assessment instruments for informal dementia caregivers: a psychometric systematic review.
The objective of this review was to identify reliable and/or valid needs assessment instruments for informal dementia caregivers that are relevant for clinical practice, research and informal caregivers. ⋯ Despite the good evidence for some psychometric properties, further developments in the field of needs assessment for informal dementia caregivers are needed, particularly regarding structural and construct validity, as well as test-retest reliability and sensitivity to change. To enhance conceptual clarity, the development of an underlying theoretical model of needs should be prioritized.

ReviewPreventative interventions, protocols or guidelines for trauma patients at risk of cervical collar-related pressure ulcers: a scoping review.
The objective of this scoping review was to explore the existing literature related to preventative interventions, protocols or guidelines for trauma patients at risk of cervical collar-related pressure ulcers to examine and conceptually map the evidence, and to identify any gaps in the literature. ⋯ Protocols with a multidisciplinary approach are available in the literature to serve as guidance for proper treatment and care of trauma patients' wearing of cervical collars. Standardized cervical collar protocols should highlight the importance of early identification of trauma patients who may be at risk. Risk factors identified in this review should be assessed and addressed to halt cervical collar-related pressure ulcers from ever developing in trauma patients who are immediately identified as at risk. Preventative interventions identified in the protocols in this scoping review can be used to create a standardized approach to care for patients in cervical collars.

Effectiveness and harms of pharmacological interventions for the treatment of delirium in adults in intensive care units after cardiac surgery: a systematic review.
The objective of this review was to synthesize the best available evidence on the effectiveness and harms of pharmacological interventions for the treatment of delirium in adult patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) after cardiac surgery. ⋯ It was not possible to draw any valid conclusions regarding the effectiveness of morphine vs haloperidol, ondansetron vs haloperidol or dexmedetomidine vs midazolam in treating delirium after cardiac surgery. This is due to the low number of studies, the poor methodological quality in conducting and reporting and the heterogeneity between the studies.

Dexmedetomidine as adjunctive therapy for the treatment of alcohol withdrawal syndrome: a systematic review protocol.
The purpose of this review is to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of dexmedetomidine as adjunctive therapy to the standard of care (benzodiazepines) compared to either the standard of care or other adjunctive treatment approaches (e.g. benzodiazepines plus propofol) for the treatment of alcohol withdrawal syndrome (AWS). ⋯ PROSPERO CRD42018084370.

New parents' experiences of postpartum depression: a systematic review of qualitative evidence.
The objective of the review was to synthesize the evidence on new mothers' and fathers' experiences of postpartum depression (PPD). ⋯ The qualitative studies concerning new parents' experiences of PPD have focused on the mother's perspective, and studies of the father's perspective, especially of the father's own experiences of PPD, are scarce. Both mothers and fathers do not receive enough support from their significant others. In addition, mothers want more support from health professionals. Because PPD has a great influence on the well-being of mothers and fathers, as well as children, it is important to understand what parents undergo after childbirth.
