Randomized Controlled Trial
Injection of intra-articular sodium hyaluronidate (Sinovial) into the carpometacarpal joint of the thumb (CMC1) in osteoarthritis. A prospective evaluation of efficacy.
To compare the efficacy on pain relief and function of one, two or three injections of intra-articular hyaluronic acid in symptomatic osteoarthritis (OA) of the carpometacarpal joint of the thumb (CMCJ). ⋯ No significant differences were found between each group over the study period for pain relief and function. But the intra groups analysis results show that intra-articular sodium hyaluronidate injections into the carpometacarpal joint of the thumb in osteoarthritis can be efficacious on pain and fuctionality. What is now needed is a controlled placebo randomised study with larger samples and longer term follow up of the achieved effects.

Pain assessment is a crucial step in the management of patients with rheumatic diseases. Among validated pain scores, the visual analog scale (VAS) score is the most widely used, in both clinical practice and therapeutic trials. ⋯ The dearth of published data on clinically relevant VAS pain score changes in patients with acute rheumatic pain requires further studies, in order to improve patient care and the comparability of therapeutic trials.

Review Meta Analysis
Pharmacotherapy (excluding biotherapies) for ankylosing spondylitis: development of recommendations for clinical practice based on published evidence and expert opinion.
To develop recommendations about pharmacotherapy (excluding biotherapeutic agents) in patients with axial forms of ankylosing spondylitis (AS) seen in everyday clinical practice. ⋯ Seven recommendations about pharmacotherapy in patients with AS were developed. They can be expected to improve clinical practice uniformity and, in the longer term, to optimize the management of patients with AS in France.
