There is an increasing local application of methylene blue (MB) in the treatment of discogenic low back pain (LBP) and percutaneous transforaminal endoscopic discectomy (PTED) procedures. MB could generate DNA damage and induce apoptosis in different cell types; however, the effects of MB on intervertebral disc (IVD) annulus fibrosus (AF) cells are not clearly understood. ⋯ Methylene blue, annulus fibrosus cell, proliferation, apoptosis, paracrine.

Uncinate Process Area as a New Sensitive Morphological Parameter to Predict Cervical Neural Foraminal Stenosis.
Hypertrophy of the uncovertebral joint has been considered as a major cause of cervical neural foraminal stenosis (CNFS). The cross-sectional area of the uncinate process is a key morphologic parameter in the identification of uncovertebral joint hypertrophy. To evaluate the connection between CNFS and the uncinate process, we devised a new morphological parameter, the uncinate process area (UPA). ⋯ The newly devised UPA is a sensitive parameter for assessing CNFS. A hypertrophied UPA is associated with an increased risk of CNFS. We think that this result will be helpful for diagnostic radiology in evaluating patients with CNFS.Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval number: IS16RISI0002KEY WORDS: Uncinate process area, cervical neural foraminal stenosis, Uncovertebral joint hypertrophy, optimal cut-off point, cross- sectional area.

A Prospective Comparison of CT-Epidurogram Between Th1-Transforaminal Epidural Injection and Th1/2-Parasagittal Interlaminar Epidural Injection for Cervical Upper Limb Pain.
Cervical epidural injections for treating neck and upper limb pain are performed by 2 methods: transforaminal and interlaminar. Many serious complications caused by inadvertent intravascular injection have been reported with the use of cervical transforaminal epidural steroid injection through the anterior-lateral approach. Despite international practical guidelines that have been proposed, cervical transforaminal epidural injection is still less recommended than cervical interlaminar epidural injection. ⋯ Epidural, cervical, transforaminal, interlaminar, fluoroscopy, CT-epidurogram, dorsal, ventral, cephalad, Horner's syndrome.

Usage of Intravenous Lidocaine Infusion with Enhanced Recovery Pathway in Patients Scheduled for Open Radical Cystectomy: A Randomized Trial.
Intravenous lidocaine infusion (IVLI) reduces postoperative pain and hastens the return of bowel function. ⋯ Lidocaine infusion, ileus, enhanced recovery pathway, acute rehabilitation, open radical cystectomy.
