Lumbar Sympathetic Ganglion Block for Cancer-Associated Secondary Lower Limb Lymphedema: A Retrospective Study.
Although lower limb lymphedema (LLL) is more or equally as frequent and harmful as upper limb lymphedema after cancer treatment, there are only a few studies on this topic. Cancer-related secondary LLL not only has physical implications, but also affects quality of life among patients who underwent gynecological cancer treatment. Despite numerous studies of various therapies, the optimal treatment for cancer-related LLL is still unknown. ⋯ LSGB can be a safe and effective treatment option for patients with secondary LLL after gynecological cancer treatment.

Cervical interlaminar epidural injection (CILEI) is commonly used to treat acute or chronic pain that affects the head, neck, and upper extremities. Thus far, studies on CILEI have focused on determining the optimal volume of contrast medium or analyzing the spread of contrast medium during a CILEI. To our knowledge, few studies have attempted to assess the correlation between epidurogram patterns and clinical outcomes of CILEI. ⋯ If the duration of symptoms is lengthy, central stenosis is severe, or contrast medium spread is limitedly solely within the central canal and does not reach the dorsal root ganglion any further, the outcome after a CILEI is likely to be poor. Therefore, efforts should be made to spread injectate around the dorsal root ganglion at the target level.

As an academic tertiary care interventional pain clinic, referrals are screened to ensure patients most likely to benefit from our services are accepted into the practice. The objective of this study is to assess for unconscious bias in the patient selection process. ⋯ While the screening process did not result in disparities across age, gender, race, or language preference, there was a statistical difference in patients identifying as Hispanic. As a result of this study, all patient identification has been removed from the review document to limit the likelihood of unconscious bias.

Transforaminal epidural steroid injections (TFESI) are widely used to alleviate lumbosacral radicular pain. Knowledge of the therapeutic outcomes of TFESI allows clinicians to elucidate therapeutic plans for managing lumbosacral radicular pain. Deep learning (DL) can outperform traditional machine learning techniques and learn from unstructured and perceptual data. A convolutional neural network (CNN) is a representative DL model. ⋯ We demonstrated that a CNN model trained, using whole lumbar spine sagittal T2-weighted MR images, could help determine outcomes after TFESI in patients with chronic lumbosacral radicular pain due to an HLD or spinal stenosis.

Analysis of Risk Factors and Prediction Model for Recurrence of Hemifacial Spasm After Radiofrequency Ablation.
Computed tomography (CT)-guided percutaneous stylomastoid foramen puncture radiofrequency ablation for the treatment of hemifacial spasm has a significant clinical effect; however, related risk factors for recurrence have not been studied. ⋯ Long operation times and high-grade facial paralysis can reduce the risk of recurrence in patients with facial spasms. The constructed recurrence prediction model could serve as a reference for clinical diagnosis and treatment.
