Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study Comparative StudyStandard-dose versus higher-dose prophylactic cranial irradiation (PCI) in patients with limited-stage small-cell lung cancer in complete remission after chemotherapy and thoracic radiotherapy (PCI 99-01, EORTC 22003-08004, RTOG 0212, and IFCT 99-01): a randomised clinical trial.
The optimum dose of prophylactic cranial irradiation (PCI) for limited-stage small-cell lung cancer (SCLC) is unknown. A meta-analysis suggested that the incidence of brain metastases might be reduced with higher PCI doses. This randomised clinical trial compared the effect of standard versus higher PCI doses on the incidence of brain metastases. ⋯ Institut Gustave-Roussy, Association pour la Recherche sur le Cancer (2001), Programme Hospitalier de Recherche Clinique (2007). The European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) contribution to this trial was supported by grants 5U10 CA11488-30 through 5U10 CA011488-38 from the US National Cancer Institute.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyEffects of radiotherapy with concomitant and adjuvant temozolomide versus radiotherapy alone on survival in glioblastoma in a randomised phase III study: 5-year analysis of the EORTC-NCIC trial.
In 2004, a randomised phase III trial by the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) and National Cancer Institute of Canada Clinical Trials Group (NCIC) reported improved median and 2-year survival for patients with glioblastoma treated with concomitant and adjuvant temozolomide and radiotherapy. We report the final results with a median follow-up of more than 5 years. ⋯ EORTC, NCIC, Nélia and Amadeo Barletta Foundation, Schering-Plough.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyInfusion of suicide-gene-engineered donor lymphocytes after family haploidentical haemopoietic stem-cell transplantation for leukaemia (the TK007 trial): a non-randomised phase I-II study.
Procedures to prevent severe graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) delay immune reconstitution secondary to transplants of haploidentical haemopoietic stem cells for the treatment of leukaemia, leading to high rates of late infectious mortality. We aimed to systematically add back genetically engineered donor lymphocytes to facilitate immune reconstitution and prevent late mortality. ⋯ MolMed SpA, Italian Association for Cancer Research.

Multicenter StudyThe surgical learning curve for laparoscopic radical prostatectomy: a retrospective cohort study.
We previously reported the learning curve for open radical prostatectomy, reporting large decreases in recurrence rates with increasing surgeon experience. Here we aim to characterise the learning curve for laparoscopic radical prostatectomy. ⋯ National Cancer Institute, the Allbritton Fund, and the David J Koch Foundation.
