[Results of operative treatment of proximal femoral fractures in the aged using the Ender and Simon-Weidner spring nailing technic].
Results are presented after operative treatment of 195 patients with extracapsular proximal femoral-bone-fractures. After accident early operation time is requested. Operation risk being small, this treatment is regarded as treatment of first choice.

[Treatment of whiplash injuries of the cervical spine with acupuncture].
30 patients with whiplash injuries were treated with aural-acupuncture. The points were chosen according to a special programme. Acupuncture proved an effective form of therapy for treatment of accident patients with whiplash injuries, representing a valuable supplement to the field of rehabilitation.

[Experiences with Sarmiento's functional therapy of Colles' fractures].
The article reports on the functional treatment of intra-articular comminuted fractures of the distal end of the radius (Colles' fracture). The results of the method described by Sarmiento, which is based on flexion of the elbow joint by 90 degrees and supination of the forearm, are satisfactory both from the functional and the anatomical points of view.

Case Reports[Differential diagnosis of the anterior tibial syndrome].
The tibialis anterior syndrome, which is the most frequent so-called compartment syndrome of the lower extremity, is described by means of the pathophysiological processes generally applicable to the compartment syndrome. Both the clinical signs and treatment as well as the diagnosis are given in this article. ⋯ The accident which had been considered responsible had in our opinion merely tended to aggravate an already existing condition which would surely have resulted eventually in an intrafascial pressure increase and in the development of a tibialis anterior syndrome pattern even without any trauma. Hence, the pattern of a tibialis anterior syndrome had been caused in this particular case by a space-occupying growth in the area of the anterior tibial muscle, i.e. by a lipoma, Correspondingly, one should always consider when performing differential diagnosis of the tibialis anterior syndrome whether the underlying cause may be a space-occupying growth, such as a tumour.

[Writing of expertises on whiplash injuries of the cervical spine (author's transl)].
Reflections on the definition of the term "whiplash injury" are followed by comments on the mechanism of accidents. The author emphasizes the importance of the biphasic course of the trauma, involving a mass contraction, triggered by reflex action, of the initially suddenly overstretched muscle groups with their synergist. Reference is made to the ideas developed by Kummer, who considers the neck as an arcuate tendon construction with tractional tension on the dorsal as well as on the ventral side. In the analysis of the injury pattern of the cervical spine, the special forms of intervertebral disc injury are dealt with, the relationship to degenerative lesions prior to the accident and to secondary lesions (spondylosis deformans and osteochondrosis) are discussed in detail, and the consequences for writing medical expertises are mentioned.
