ReviewFibromyalgia syndrome and temporomandibular disorders with muscular pain. A review.
Temporomandibular disorders (TMD) refer to a group of clinical picture affecting the masticatory muscles and temporomandibular joint that are characterized by muscular or joint pain, dysfunction (limited or altered functions) and joint noises, as well as other associated symptoms, such as tension headaches, otalgia, dizziness, tinnitus, and others. Fibromyalgia (FM) is a syndrome of unknown etiology involving generalized chronic pain accompanied, in a high percentage of cases, by other symptoms such as asthenia, anxiety, depression, sleep disturbances, and other less frequent symptoms, such as temporomandibular disorders (TMD). ⋯ Fibromyalgia and temporomandibular disorders with muscle pain both have profiles that affect the muscular system and therefore share many epidemiological, clinical, and physiopathological symptoms. Because of this, we are led to think that there is, if not a common etiology, at least a common pathogenesis. This article revises the physiopathological processes of both clinical pictures in an attempt to determine their similarities and likenesses. This would undoubtedly help in providing a better therapeutic approach.

Clinical TrialThe MRI-detected osteophyte score is a predictor for undergoing joint replacement in patients with end-stage knee osteoarthritis.
The aim of this prospective cohort study was to examine whether MRI-detected osteoarthritis (OA)-structural changes at baseline could predict knee OA patients who would undergo total knee arthroplasty (TKA). ⋯ The osteophyte score detected by MRI, in addition to ADL score, was found to be an important factor in determining whether the patient should undergo TKA.

Anti-interleukin-1 treatment in 26 patients with refractory familial mediterranean fever.
To investigate the effect of anti-interleukin-1 (anti-IL-1) treatment on the frequency and severity of attacks and other disease-related clinical parameters and to evaluate the adverse effects associated with anti-IL-1 treatment in 26 patients with refractory familial mediterranean fever (FMF). ⋯ Anti-IL-1 agents are rational treatment modalities in patients resistant or intolerant to colchicine. Anti-IL-1 agents can control FMF attacks quite effectively and they have a promising role in the treatment of FMF.

Effectiveness of golimumab for rheumatoid arthritis in patients with an inadequate response to tocilizumab.
Several biological disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (bDMARDs) are currently available for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Increasing evidence indicates that second-line bDMARDs are effective for inadequate responders to first-line bDMARDs. However, all previous studies investigated the use of tumor necrosis factor inhibitors (TNFi) as a first-line bDMARD, while investigated the efficacy of second-line bDMARDs after the use of tocilizumab (TCZ), a non-TNFi, as a first-line bDMARD. Thus, we investigated the efficacy of golimumab (GLM) as a second-line bDMARD after treatment with TCZ as a first-line bDMARD. ⋯ GLM was an effective therapeutic option for inadequate responders to TCZ.
