Isolated proximal tibiofibular joint arthritis in a patient with juvenile idiopathic arthritis: A case report.
We report the case of a 14-year-old girl of juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) with isolated and chronic proximal tibiofibular (PTF) joint arthritis. The clinical history, magnetic resonance imaging, and pathological findings of the patient are presented. We should be careful to evaluate the patient for chronic lateral knee pain, and consider concomitant evaluation for JIA, including rheumatoid arthritis.

Observational StudyOutcomes of modified metatarsal shortening offset osteotomy for forefoot deformity in patients with rheumatoid arthritis: Short to mid-term follow-up.
Advances in drug therapy for rheumatoid arthritis (RA) have been encouraging us to preserve the metatarsopharangeal (MTP) joint in correction of forefoot deformities, and original metatarsal shortening offset osteotomy was recommended as one of the conventional surgical options for forefoot deformities in RA cases. The objective of this study was to evaluate short- to mid-term outcomes of modified metatarsal shortening offset osteotomy. ⋯ Modified metatarsal shortening offset osteotomy was recommended for RA forefoot disorders as one of the joint preservation surgeries in short- to mid-term follow-up. However, some modifications to avoid limitation of ROM in the MTP joint are required. It must be borne in mind that varus hindfoot and/or bony ankyloses in the mid-hindfoot can cause recurrence of dorsal dislocation/subluxation of the lesser toe MTP joint.

An open-label, long-term, phase III extension trial of duloxetine in Japanese patients with fibromyalgia.
We aimed to evaluate the long-term safety and efficacy of duloxetine 60 mg in Japanese patients with fibromyalgia enrolled from a preceding randomized, placebo-controlled, phase III duloxetine trial. ⋯ Duloxetine was safe and effective in the long-term treatment of Japanese patients with fibromyalgia.

Evaluation of paravertebral muscle atrophy and fatty degeneration in ankylosing spondylitis.
The purpose of this study was to assess morphological changes in the paravertebral muscles in patients with ankylosing spondylitis. ⋯ Chronic inflammation, cytokine-mediated fibrosis, immobilization, and postural changes in ankylosing spondylitis contribute to fatty degeneration and atrophy in the paravertebral muscles.

Bi-ventricular interplay in patients with systemic sclerosis-associated pulmonary arterial hypertension: Detection by cardiac magnetic resonance.
Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) associated with systemic sclerosis (SSc) has a poor prognosis compared to PAH associated with other connective tissue diseases (CTD). The objective of this study was to examine the difference in hemodynamic state between SSc-PAH and other CTD-PAH by performing cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging. ⋯ Our data indicated that altered bi-ventricular interplay detected at CMR may represent SSc-related cardiac involvement and reflect poor prognosis of SSc-PAH.
