The effects of a modified Bonwill clasp on periodontal health have been studied for an observation period of 2 years. The results indicate that oral hygiene is more important than the dimensions of the clasp. ⋯ At the same time, this modified clasp seems to have a splinting effect, due to the superior transmission of masticatory forces. Further studies on clasp dimensions and the indications for this modified Bonwill clasp will, however, be necessary.
