In December 2019, a new coronavirus has emerged out of China, the SARS-CoV-2 virus, causing a disease known as COVID-19, which steadily has progressed into a pandemic. This coronavirus affects many organs, including the skin, whose manifestations are a consequence of the disease itself, as well as the preventative measures taken to avoid the infection. This paper reviews the cutaneous manifestations which currently have been encountered during this pandemic. ⋯ Recognizing these findings is important for the accurate diagnosis of those infected with COVID-19 as well as the prompt treatment of the side effects caused by PPE that might further impair the effectiveness of healthcare workers.

Disfiguring facial scars can be a massive burden on patients' psychosocial health and severely impact patients' self-esteem. ⋯ The CO2-AFL offers a safe and effective treatment for disfiguring facial scars. We have shown that improvement of scar appearance and scar quality was meaningful to the patient, with a significant impact on a patient's life quality. Based on these findings we suggest including the CO2-AFL in the facial scar treatment concept.

Non-invasive body contouring has experienced recent growth. To meet demand, medical spas and non-physician operators have grown. Insights into their practice can provide information on their impact. ⋯ Certain cities have experienced an unequal distribution of body contouring providers, and many cities are skewed in favor of medical spas over physician-based practices.

The tear trough is the hollow concavity of the medial lower eyelid. Surgery can address tear trough deformities and reverse visible signs of periorbital aging. The previous methods of transconjunctival blepharoplasty with fat transposition were first described with subperiosteal placement of fat (Plast Reconstr Surg, 125, 2010,699, Aesthetic Surg J, 32, 2012, 426). This was followed by techniques with submuscular transposition of fat, which overcame certain difficulties associated with the subperiosteal methods (Clin Plast Surg, 20, 1993, 393, Arch Facial Plast Surg, 2, 2000, 16). ⋯ Transconjunctival blepharoplasty with the fat pedicle transposition placed above the orbicularis muscle is a safe and effective technique for lower eyelid rejuvenation. Compared to previously described techniques of repositioning fat into the subperiosteal or submuscular plane, this technique of transposing fat above the orbicularis muscle is an alternative technique resulting in long-term improvement of tear trough abnormalities with no major complications.

Doctors and healthcare workers (HCW) are at frontline in control of the pandemic caused by the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19). The virus is transmitted by contact, droplet, and airborne transmission; hence, hand hygiene, social distancing, environmental disinfection, and use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) form important components to protect HCWs from cross-infection. Appropriate use of PPE is of paramount importance not only to reduce the risk of transmission but also to maintain adequate stock for those who are dealing directly with COVID-19 patients. ⋯ Adherence to protective measures and use of PPE is of utmost importance for HCWs to prevent cross-infection in this pandemic. The use of PPE can limit transmission to a great extent, but appropriate use and avoiding misuse is equally important in the dermatology setting in order to avoid depletion of stock. It is also essential to consider various practical issues with use of PPE and device measures to avoid them so that breach in protocols can be prevented and spread of infection minimized.
