Hypertrophic scar is a form of abnormal wound healing process in which tissue repair regulating mechanism is disrupted. Transforming growth factor β1 has a particular importance in the fibrotic scarring response. Treatment of hypertrophic scar included many chemical, physical, and surgical options. Fractional CO2 laser devices have gained acceptance as a way for managing hypertrophic scar. Aims of this study are: (a) to determine the clinical and histopathological effects of fractional CO2 laser on hypertrophic scar, (b) to evaluate the expression pattern of transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1) as an important fibrogenic factor before and 6 months after fractional CO2 laser treatment. ⋯ Fractional CO2 laser could be considered as a good way for hypertrophic scar management. It normalizes dermal collagen as imaged by histopathological picture and the change in TGF-β1 expression.

Multicenter Study Observational Study
A prospective, open-label, multicenter, observational, postmarket study of the use of a 15 mg/mL hyaluronic acid dermal filler in the lips.
Hyaluronic acid (HA)-based injectable fillers three-dimensionally restore the natural contours of the lips and perioral area, thereby reducing some signs of aging lips. To evaluate the short-term aesthetic impact of treatment with the HA dermal filler Juvéderm(®) VOLBELLA(®) with Lidocaine, formulated utilizing VYCROSS(™) technology, for enhancement or correction of asymmetry of the lips, evaluated using a patient-centric approach. Sixty-two subjects were enrolled in this study, conducted at two sites in Germany. ⋯ After injection at first visit, 61.7% of subjects rated the look and feel of their lips as Extremely Natural or Very Natural, which increased to 75.0% and 93.0% of subjects with/without top-up treatment, respectively. The HA dermal filler was associated with minimal discomfort, bruising or swelling of the lips; almost two-thirds of subjects (62%) returned to social engagements on the same day. The high degree of subject satisfaction with aesthetic improvement in the lips, as well as the natural look and feel, indicates that this HA dermal filler represents an effective treatment option for patients requiring lip enhancement.

Comparative Study Controlled Clinical Trial
A split-face comparative study to evaluate efficacy of combined subcision and dermaroller against combined subcision and cryoroller in treatment of acne scars.
Acne scars occur consequent to abnormal wound healing following sebaceous follicular inflammation in acne. Various types of acne scars are icepick, rolling, boxcar, hypertrophic, and keloidal. Different modalities of treatment include subcision, dermaroller, cryoroller, punch excision, chemical peeling, and lasers. ⋯ Combined subcision and cryoroller is more effective than combined subcision and dermaroller for treatment of acne scars.

Historical Article
From flint razors to lasers: a timeline of hair removal methods.
Today, most do not go a day without practicing or hearing about new hair removal methods. However, little is discussed about the history of hair removal and the development of most hair removal methods since the period of cavemen. Avoiding decapitation and fitting in with society are two of many reasons for the development of this now normative practice. ⋯ These two methods as well as various other ones are discussed in this article. Further developments are being made every day to better treat the removal of blonde and white hair as well as to diminish the pain of hair removal. With these developments, dermatologists will better understand the advancement of hair removal methods and the reasons why patients may seek treatment.
