Design, Creation, and 13-Month Performance of a Novel, Web-Based Activity for Education in Primary Cardiology Palliative Care.
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) clinicians who care for seriously ill patients frequently report that they do not feel confident nor adequately prepared to manage patients' palliative care (PC) needs. With the goal, therefore, of increasing PC knowledge and skills amongst interprofessional clinicians providing CVD care, the ACC's PC Workgroup designed, developed, and implemented a comprehensive PC online educational activity. ⋯ This webinar series was well-subscribed, and upon completion of the modules, learners reported better self-perceived abilities related to palliative care competencies. We propose PCCVC as a model for primary PC education for clinicians caring for individuals with other serious or life-shortening illnesses.

District nurses experiences in providing terminal care in rural and more urban districts. A qualitative study from the Faroe Islands.
To explore district nurses' experiences in providing terminal care to patients and their families until death in a private home setting. ⋯ Our findings underline the complexity of terminal care. The nurses felt exhausted yet rewarded from being able to fulfil a patient's wish to die at home. Experience and intuition guided their practice. They emphasised that good collaboration with the GPs, the palliative care team and the families was important. Establishing an outgoing function for the palliative care team to support the nurses and the families would increase the scope for home deaths. Working conditions differed between rural and urban districts.

All Palliative Care Should Be Integrative Palliative Care.
Integrative medicine and palliative care are philosophically similar, with a focus on whole person care and wellbeing. Integrative medicine provides a large toolbox of evidence-informed treatment modalities but doesn't prioritize the care of seriously ill people. Palliative care takes a holistic approach to reducing the suffering of seriously ill people, their families, and their caregivers, but the available treatment toolbox is often limited to pharmaceuticals, procedures, and radiation. ⋯ This emerging field is called integrative palliative care. Reducing physical, emotional, and spiritual suffering is the fundamental goal of palliative care and all available effective tools should be employed toward this aim. Therefore, all palliative care should be integrative palliative care.

ReviewElectronic symptom monitoring for home-based palliative care: A systematic review.
Coordination and communication challenges in home-based palliative care complicate transitions from hospital care. Electronic symptom monitoring enables real-time data collection, enhancing patient-provider communication. However, a systematic evaluation of its effectiveness in home-based palliative care is lacking. ⋯ Introducing electronic symptom monitoring in home-based palliative care holds potential for enhancing patient-reported outcomes, potentially decreasing hospital visits and costs. However, inconsistency in current studies arising from diverse monitoring systems obstructs comparability. To advance, future high-quality research should employ standardized follow-up periods and established scales to better grasp the benefits of electronic symptom monitoring in home-based palliative care.
