Development of the TIFFIN recommendations for co-producing palliative and end-of-life care research with individuals with lived experience of homelessness: A qualitative study.
Palliative care for people experiencing homelessness is a complex field. Due to the intricate nuances and heterogeneity in the experience of palliative care for people without secure housing, it is essential that research is informed by people with lived experience of homelessness. However, as homelessness is often associated with loss, trauma and high levels of exposure to death, any co-production of research, particularly in the field of palliative and end-of-life-care, must be trauma-informed. ⋯ Co-production of palliative care research with people with lived experience of homelessness is essential, but must be done carefully and sensitively. As a population with high levels of premature morbidity and mortality yet low access to palliative care, the TIFFIN recommendations could help to support the involvement of people with lived experience of homelessness in palliative and end-of-life-care care research.

Palliative surgery versus non-surgery of the solitary metastatic lesion in De novo metastatic breast cancer: A SEER based study.
This study aimed to evaluate whether palliative surgery for metastatic lesion could provide a survival benefit in metastatic breast cancer (MBC) patients with solitary metastasis. De novo MBC patients with solitary distant lesions were enrolled utilizing the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database. Propensity score matching (PSM) was conducted to form matched pairs of the surgery group and the non-surgery group. ⋯ Further stratification analysis indicated that patients with the luminal A subtype with brain metastasis have a better BCSS (HR = 0.36, 95% CI = 0.16-0.79, P = .04) and OS (HR = 0.37, 95% CI = 0.18-0.75, P = .03) after undergoing palliative surgery than nonsurgical treatment. Our study originality showed that palliative surgery for metastatic lesion could improve survival prognosis in patients with special single-organ metastasis and specific molecular subtypes. More clinical studies are needed to determine whether palliative surgery should be performed in MBC patients.

Dementia is a leading cause of death globally. However, end-of-life care is often poor or non-existent. People with dementia from ethnic minorities or socioeconomically deprived communities are even less likely to receive good palliative care. Despite this, research into end-of-life care often fails to include people from these populations. ⋯ Future research should focus on educational strategies, including how optimal end-of-life care differs for those with dementia compared to other life-limiting conditions, with appropriate models of inclusive, appropriately funded care needed.
