Management of Patients Receiving Antiplatelet Therapy During Gastroenterological Surgery: A Multicenter Prospective Cohort Study (GSATT).
This study aimed to evaluate the effect of continuing preoperative aspirin monotherapy on surgical outcomes in patients receiving antiplatelet therapy (APT). ⋯ APT discontinuation after elective gastroenterological surgery increases the risk of thromboembolic consequences, whereas continuing preoperative aspirin greatly reduces this risk. The continuation of preoperative aspirin therapy in APT-received patients is considered one of the best alternatives for preventing thromboembolism during elective gastroenterological surgery.

Intraoperative dexamethasone and chronic postsurgical pain: a propensity score-matched analysis of a large trial.
Dexamethasone has been shown to reduce acute pain after surgery, but there is uncertainty as to its effects on chronic postsurgical pain (CPSP). We hypothesised that in patients undergoing major noncardiac surgery, a single intraoperative dose of dexamethasone increases the incidence of CPSP. ⋯ Open Science Framework Registration DOI https://doi.org/10.17605/OSF.IO/ZDVB5.

A comparison of idiopathic scoliosis surgery between teenage years and adulthood.
Idiopathic scoliosis is an evolutive deformity during patient's life. In case of moderate deformity in a well aligned adolescent, it's a big concern to decide when to do the surgery. Objective of this work was to evaluate and compare clinical, radiological and surgical data of patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis operated in childhood (before 20 years) and those operated adults (after 35 years). ⋯ Surgery for idiopathic scoliosis seems to offer a better quality of life and deformity correction when it is performed at adolescence. After 35 years, surgery remains an acceptable therapeutic option, despite higher complication rate.
