Hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) therapy can attenuate neurological impairment after traumatic brain injury (TBI) and alleviate intestinal dysfunction. However, the role and mechanism of HBO therapy in intestinal dysfunction following TBI remain unclear. ⋯ Then, we identified that the m6A level imcreased notably in injured cortical tissue of CCI+HBO group compared with the CCI group following CCI. Thus, our results suggested that HBO therapy could alleviate TBI-induced intestinal dysfunction and m6A might participate in this regulation process, which provides new insights for exploring the specific mechanism and targets of HBO in the treatment of intestinal dysfunction after TBI, thereby improving the therapeutic effect of HBO.

Early recognition of traumatic brain injury (TBI) is important to facilitate time-sensitive care. Electroencephalography (EEG) can identify TBI, but feasibility of EEG has not been evaluated in prehospital settings. We tested the feasibility of obtaining single-channel EEG during air medical transport after trauma. We measured association between quantitative EEG features, early blood biomarkers, and abnormalities on head computerized tomography (CT). ⋯ Prehospital EEG acquisition is feasible during air transport after trauma.

ReviewUnderstanding the relationships between sleep quality, and depression and anxiety in neurotrauma: A scoping review.
Sleep problems, depression, and anxiety are highly prevalent after a spinal cord injury (SCI) and traumatic brain injury (TBI) and may worsen functional outcomes and quality of life. This scoping review examined the existing literature to understand the relationships between sleep quality, depression, and anxiety in persons with SCI and TBI, and to identify gaps in the literature. A systematic search of seven databases was conducted. ⋯ The findings of this review suggest that sleep and psychopathology are related in persons with neurotraumatic injuries. This has important therapeutic implications, because individuals may benefit from therapy targeting both sleep and psychological issues. More longitudinal and interventional studies are warranted to further understand the direction and strength of the relationships and how they impact patient outcomes.
