Risk factors and outcomes of myocardial injury after non-cardiac surgery in high-risk patients who underwent radical cystectomy.
Radical cystectomy is considered the standard treatment for patients with muscle-invasive bladder tumors and has high postoperative complication rates among urological surgeries. High-risk patients, defined as those ≥45 years of age with history of coronary artery disease, stroke, or peripheral artery disease or those ≥65 years of age, can have a higher incidence of cardiac complications. Therefore, we evaluated the incidence, risk factors, and outcomes of myocardial injury after non-cardiac surgery (MINS) in high-risk patients who underwent radical cystectomy. ⋯ High E/E' ratio and large volume blood transfusion were risk factors for MINS in high-risk patients who underwent radical cystectomy. Postoperative major adverse cardiac events and 1-year mortality were significantly higher in the MINS group than in the non-MINS group. Preoperative evaluation of risk factors for MINS may provide useful information to detect cardiovascular complications after radical cystectomy in high-risk patients.

Oral health can affect or be a manifestation of general health. Although oral health assessment has been used as a proxy for general health, few studies have reported an association between oral health status and allergic diseases. This cross-sectional study aimed to investigate the relationship between subjective oral health status and asthma/allergic rhinitis in a nationwide representative sample of Korean adults. ⋯ Poor oral health status was significantly related to asthma, with an adjusted odds ratio (aOR) of 1.19 (95% CI = 1.07-1.33, P = .002). Although the prevalence of allergic rhinitis was not higher in the poor oral health group (13.4%) than in the good (15.4%) and normal oral health groups (15.9%), the aOR for allergic rhinitis was 1.05 (95% CI = 1.00-1.11, P = .045) in the poor oral health group after adjusting for covariates. Subjective poor oral health status was significantly associated with asthma and allergic rhinitis in Korean adults.

The aim of this study was to explore the relationship between social support, self-efficacy, coping style, and psychological stress in children with malignant tumors during the treatment, and to clarify the mediating effects. From May 2019 to August 2019, selected by convenience sampling method, 141 children with malignant tumors in the treatment period were evaluated using the Social Support Questionnaire, General Self-efficacy Scale, Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire, and Depression-Anxiety-Stress Scale. ⋯ Through 2000 bootstrap tests of mediating effect, it not only confirmed the mediating effect of self-efficacy and coping style but also had a chain-mediating effect. Appropriate social support can improve the self-efficacy of children with malignant tumors in the treatment period and encourage them to take a positive response to the disease, thereby effectively preventing or reducing the occurrence of psychological stress.

Clinical features of capsule endoscopy in 825 children: A single-center, retrospective cohort study.
Video capsule endoscopy (VCE) can detect mucosal lesions in the intestine, especially in the small bowel. Our study aims to evaluate the applications of VCE for pediatric gastrointestinal diseases. In this retrospective study, we included all patients who underwent VCE between December 2012 and December 2018. ⋯ In terms of the small bowel transit time of VCE, compared with the negative group [288 (216.5, 390.3) min] and the enteritis group [277 (192.5, 374.8) min], a longer transit time was needed in the small bowel ulcer group [332.5 (240, 451.5) min, P < .01]. There were no correlations of positive VCE findings with anemia, the white blood cell count, the C-reactive protein level or the small bowel transit time according to Spearman rank analysis. VCE is relatively well tolerated and safe in children and has great value for the diagnosis and treatment of abdominal pain, especially inflammatory bowel disease and obscure gastrointestinal bleeding.
