The objectives of this study were to describe the prevalence and characteristics of radiographic lesions of the hands, and calcifications of the spine on computer tomography scans (CT-scans), and to investigate the relationships between radiographic and CT-scan abnormalities and clinical features in a population of patients with systemic sclerosis (SSc). Subjects underwent X-ray examination of the hands, and thoracic or thoraco-abdominal and pelvic CT scan or lumbar CT scan in the year. Structural lesions on hand X ray was scored and spinal calcifications were evaluated in the anterior, intracanal and posterior segments. ⋯ Posterior calcification segment and foraminal calcifications were associated with interstitial lung disease (ILD) (P = .029) and death (P = .001). More than 80% of systemic sclerosis patients presented spine calcifications. A significant association between hands and spinal calcifications were confirmed and some localization in the posterior segment considered as a bad prognostic factor.

Asthma is a chronic inflammatory and multifactorial respiratory tract disease. It affects over 18 million adults and 6 million children in the USA with Puerto Ricans showing the highest prevalence (12%-19%). This airways illness can be triggered by an environmental stimulus such as grass pollen, fungi spores, cockroaches allergens, dust mites metabolic compounds, and importantly, by environmental proteases such as trypsin and tryptase. ⋯ In contrast, there were no significant changes between groups after adding the PAR-2 antagonist. Our outcomes revealed that PAR-2 antagonist effectively inhibited the studied primary cells, expecting to decrease the immune response of eosinophils. Most importantly, our results reveal a promising role for the PAR-2 antagonist in targeting bronchial/tracheal epithelial cells, human small airway epithelial cells and bronchial smooth muscle cells with the potential to oblige an asthma adjuvant therapy.

The incidence of cancer is increasing worldwide. The role of comorbidities in this development is debated. The aim of this study was to investigate the significance of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) for the incidence of cancer of various kinds in Germany. ⋯ NAFLD slightly increases the risk of breast cancer in women, genital cancer in men, and skin cancer irrespective of sex. Thus, NAFLD can be considered a marker of increased cancer risk.

Poorly differentiated neuroendocrine carcinoma of the breast is a rare cancer with poor prognosis. There is no standard treatment for the disease. Neoadjuvant therapies and surgery are considered to be the main treatment when the tumor diameter is greater than 5.0 cm. Neoadjuvant therapies include chemotherapy and endocrine therapy. However, the effect of neoadjuvant endocrine therapy is not clear in the disease. ⋯ Poorly differentiated neuroendocrine carcinoma of the breast is rare and has a poor prognosis. Currently, there is no standard treatment for this disease. Studies show estrogen receptor and progesterone receptor of neuroendocrine carcinoma of the breast are often highly expressed. In the case, it can be observed that estrogen receptor and progesterone receptor are highly expressed. Therefore, neoadjuvant endocrine therapy may be considered in neuroendocrine carcinoma of the breast when the mass is large and the patient refuses neoadjuvant chemotherapy. We hope to provide an attractive evidence for neoadjuvant endocrine therapy of neuroendocrine carcinoma of the breast. However, more cases are still being needed for research.

Lung cancer is a leading cause of morbidity diseases worldwide, but the key mechanisms of lung cancer remain elusive. This study aims to integrate of GSE 118370 and GSE 32863 profile and identify the key genes and pathway involved in human lung adenocarcinoma. ⋯ This study firstly reported GNG11 acting as a hub gene in adenocarcinoma. GNG11 could be used as a biomarker for human adenocarcinoma. Chemokine signaling pathway might play important roles in lung adenocarcinoma.
