Malignant peritoneal mesothelioma is a rare tumor with a poor prognosis and has no recommended therapy after first-line pemetrexed and platinum-based chemotherapy. Moreover, effects of immune checkpoint inhibitors on peritoneal mesothelioma remains to be elucidated. We herein report the case of a 75-year-old man with peritoneal mesothelioma treated with cisplatin plus pemetrexed and subsequent nivolumab. ⋯ To our knowledge, this is the first report of hyperprogressive disease in a case of peritoneal mesothelioma after nivolumab treatment. While immune checkpoint inhibitors may be promising therapeutic strategies for treating malignant peritoneal mesothelioma, careful monitoring must be practiced with their application.

Rehabilitative management of an infant with Pelizaeus-Merzbacher disease: A case report.
Pelizaeus-Merzbacher disease (PMD) is an X-linked recessive trait and a rare disease characterized by abnormal myelin formation in the central nervous system. Since Pelizaeus and Merzbacher reported the pathology of PMD in the 1990s most studies have examined pharmacological treatments. No studies have reported the effects of rehabilitation on patients with PMD aimed at improving their functional abilities. We report the first case of improved development after rehabilitation in a patient with Pelizaeus-Merzbacher disease. ⋯ Rehabilitation training can help PMD patients achieve maximal function and catch-up in their growth.

Sepsis is a life-threatening disease in the intensive care unit (ICU). The current diagnostic criteria for sequential organ failure assessment (SOFA) scores do not reflect the current understanding of sepsis. We developed a novel and convenient score to aid early prognosis. ⋯ The STAPLAg score can be determined early in infected EICU patients, and exhibited better prognostic capacity than the initial SOFA score on admission in both internal and external cohorts. STAPLAg constitutes a new resource for use in the clinical diagnosis of sepsis and can also predict mortality in infected EICU patients. REGISTRATION NUMBER:: ChinCTR-PNC-16010288.

Coronaviruses have drawn attention since the beginning of the 21st century. Over the past 17 years, coronaviruses have triggered several outbreaks of epidemic in people, which brought great threats to global public health security. We analyzed the publications on coronavirus with bibliometrics software and qualitatively and quantitatively evaluated the knowledge base and hot topics of coronavirus research from 2003 to 2020. ⋯ Bibliometric analysis of the literature shows the research on coronavirus boomed when a novel coronavirus triggered outbreaks in people. With the end of the epidemic, the research tended to be cooling. Virus identification, pathogenesis, and coronavirus-mediated diseases attracted much attention. We must continue studying the viruses after an outbreak ended.

Observational Study
The impact of tamsulosin on cognition in Alzheimer disease with benign prostate hyperplasia: A study using the Hallym Smart Clinical Data Warehouse.
Studies suggest that the use of alpha-blockers increases the risk of dementia in patients with benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH). Due to study limitations, the relationship between the use of alpha-blockers, such as tamsulosin, and the risk of dementia is still unclear. However, alpha1-adrenoreceptors are also present in the brain, so there is potential for adverse effects on cognitive function. ⋯ After propensity score matching, clinical characteristics such as educational attainment and vascular risk factors were similar in the tamsulosin and no-medication groups. The MMSE scores did not differ significantly between the tamsulosin and no-medication groups (P = .470). The results suggest that tamsulosin for BPH is not associated with worsening of the cognitive decline in patients with AD.
