Vasculitis does not usually induce glandular tissue lesions. Herein, we present a case of vasculitis with a distribution similar to that of immunoglobulin-G4-related disease (IgG4-RD), including that of the submandibular and lacrimal glands, and periaortitis. ⋯ Vasculitis can present with lesions and pathological findings similar to those of IgG4-RD.

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is the most common malignant neoplasm of the nasopharynx. Despite improvements in the clinical treatment strategies for NPC, NPC patients usually have poor survival rates because of late diagnosis, tumor metastasis, and recurrence. Therefore, the identification of potential diagnostic and prognostic markers for NPC is imperative. ⋯ Univariate analysis showed that high expression of SYNPO2 was associated with poor disease-specific survival, distal metastasis-free survival, and local recurrence-free survival in patients with NPC. Notably, our multivariate analysis demonstrated that high SYNPO2 expression was substantially correlated with inferior disease-specific survival (hazard ratio = 1.968, P = .012) and local recurrence-free survival (hazard ratio = 3.386, P = .001). Overall, our findings reveal that SYNPO2 may aid in the development of potential prognostic biomarkers for NPC patients.

To investigate the clinical effect of donepezil combined with hydrogen-oxygen mixture inhalation in the treatment of patients with Alzheimer disease (AD), a total of 273 AD patients admitted to our hospital from March 2018 to March 2022 were retrospectively analyzed and assigned into an observation group (n = 138) and a control group (n = 135) according to the different treatment that they received. The control group was treated with donepezil tablets, while the observation group was treated with donepezil tablets combined with hydrogen-oxygen mixture inhalation. The scores of mini-mental state examination (MMSE), Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), Alzheimer's Disease Assessment Scale-Cognition, activity of daily living scale (ADL) and the P300 event-related potential were compared between the 2 groups. ⋯ After treatment, the latency of P300 in both groups was shortened (P < .01), and the improvement in the observation group was more significant than that in the control group (P < .001). The amplitude of the observation group increased after treatment (P < .01), and the improvement of the observation group was significant than that of the control group (P = .007). The clinical efficacy of donepezil combined with hydrogen-oxygen mixture inhalation in the treatment of AD is better than that of donepezil alone, which is worthy of further study.

CT-based flow reserve fraction (CT-FFR) and CT perfusion (CTP), as a complement to coronary computed tomographic angiography (CCTA) have been revealed to be associated with the prognosis of patients with obstructive coronary artery disease (CAD). However, the prognostic value of coronary stenosis combined with CT-FFR and resting-state CTP based on CCTA for major adverse cardiac events (MACE) is not known and requires further investigation. Fifty-two patients with obstructive CAD (50%-90% stenosis) examined by CCTA were retrospectively collected and followed-up for the occurrence of MACE. ⋯ Logistic regression analysis showed that coronary artery stenosis ≥ 70%, CT-FFR ≤ 0.80, and perfusion index (PI) were independent predictors for MACE in patients with obstructive CAD (P < .05). The model based on coronary stenosis combined with PI and CT-FFR (AUC = 0.944) was better than those based on the degree of coronary stenosis combined with PI (AUC = 0.874), coronary stenosis degree combined with CT-FFR (AUC = 0.895), and any single index (P < .05). The combined model established by coronary stenosis, CT-FFR, and resting-state CTP based on a "1-stop" CCTA examination for predicting MACE among patients with obstructive CAD has good diagnostic efficacy and shows incremental discriminatory power.

Preoperative Treatment of Locally Advanced Rectal Cancer.
Pelvic radiation plus sensitizing chemotherapy with a fluoropyrimidine (chemoradiotherapy) before surgery is standard care for locally advanced rectal cancer in North America. Whether neoadjuvant chemotherapy with fluorouracil, leucovorin, and oxaliplatin (FOLFOX) can be used in lieu of chemoradiotherapy is uncertain. ⋯ In patients with locally advanced rectal cancer who were eligible for sphincter-sparing surgery, preoperative FOLFOX was noninferior to preoperative chemoradiotherapy with respect to disease-free survival.
