Superior facet joint violation (FJV) is a potential risk factor for adjacent segment disease following lumbar fusion surgery. We sought to conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis to compare screw-related superior FJV rates between the open and different minimally invasive (MI) techniques-fluoroscopy-based, 3D-image navigation, and navigation with robotic assistance-in adult lumbar fusion surgery. ⋯ Among the three common MI techniques, fluoroscopy-based can be associated with a higher risk of superior FJV, while both 3D-image navigation and navigation with robotic assistance may be associated with lower risks as compared with the open method. Considering the limitations of the study, more trials are needed to prove these clinical findings.

Multicenter StudyCharacteristics, Treatment Patterns, and Clinical Outcomes After Heart Failure Hospitalizations During the COVID-19 Pandemic, March to October 2020.
To compare clinical characteristics, treatment patterns, and 30-day all-cause readmission and mortality between patients hospitalized for heart failure (HF) before and during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. ⋯ The findings of this large tristate multicenter cohort study of HF hospitalizations suggest lower rates of index hospitalizations and 30-day readmissions but higher incidence of 30-day mortality with broadly similar use of HF medication, surgical interventions, and devices during the COVID-19 pandemic compared with the pre-COVID-19 time frame.

Multicenter StudyReal-World Experience of Angiotensin Receptor-Neprilysin Inhibition in Reduced Ejection Fraction Heart Failure Patients With Advanced Kidney Disease.
To investigate the effectiveness and safety of angiotensin receptor-neprilysin inhibitors (ARNIs) in real-world patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) and advanced chronic kidney disease (estimated glomerular filtration rate [eGFR] < 30 mL/min per 1.73 m2), which have been excluded from the landmark trials. ⋯ Our results show the effectiveness of ARNIs in HFrEF patients with advanced chronic kidney disease in a real-world setting.

While booster vaccinations clearly reduce the risk of severe Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) and death, the impact of boosters on Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infections has not been fully characterized: Doing so requires understanding their impact on asymptomatic and mildly symptomatic infections that often go unreported but nevertheless play an important role in spreading SARS-CoV-2. We sought to estimate the impact of COVID-19 booster doses on SARS-CoV-2 infections in a vaccinated population of young adults during an Omicron BA.1-predominant period. ⋯ We observed that boosters are effective, relative to completion of initial vaccination series, in further reducing the rate of SARS-CoV-2 infections in a college student population during a period when Omicron BA.1 was predominant; booster vaccinations for this age group may play an important role in reducing incidence of COVID-19.
