To investigate the effect of vaccine types applied in our country against 2019 coronavirus disease on the formation of protective antibodies in oncology patients. ⋯ The Biontech vaccine produced higher antibody levels in advanced oncology patients. While the application of radiotherapy in cancer patients was not found to be an effective factor in the vaccination status, it was determined that the application of chemotherapy significantly reduced IgM levels (Tab. 5, Ref. 28). Inflammation is a common feature of all chronic liver diseases and atherosclerosis. The article discusses the participation of cytokines and inflammasomes in the process of development of metabolically associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) and the ways of their activation under the influence of inductive stimuli (toxins, alcohol, fat, viruses, etc.), most often in the case of disruption of intestinal permeability through toll-like receptors with an imbalance in the composition of intestinal microflora and bile acids. ⋯ The article emphasizes the importance of the liver-intestinal axis and modulation of microbiome, as well as calls attention to the influence of the circadian rhythm of the 12-hour pacemaker on gene production in NASH (non-alcoholic steatohepatitis) developing (Fig. 4, Ref. 56). Keywords: NASH, MAFLD, microbiome, lipotoxicity, bile acids, inflammasomes.

This study aimed to analyze the global profile of the literature in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) research. ⋯ This study provides a unique composite picture of NAFLD research worldwide and evaluates research productivity from 1973 to 2022. This finding suggests that the prospects for interventions in NAFLD remain promising (Tab. 5, Fig. 4, Ref. 57). Text in PDF www.elis.sk Keywords: bibliometric analysis, NAFLD, Scopus.

[Diabetes and cardiovascular health literacy in childhood and adolescence - a 12-year follow-up].
The incidence of diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular diseases is increasing worldwide and also in Germany. The aim of the study was to assess the health literacy regarding these diseases in childhood and adolescence. ⋯ Changes in health literacy regarding diabetes and other cardiovascular risk factors among 5th-12th grade students over the past 12 years could not be observed. The assumed self-infliction of type 1 diabetes may be perceived as discrimination by those affected.

Changes in Serum Concentrations of Bone Turnover Markers in Healthy Pregnant Women.
Changes in bone metabolism during pregnancy have not received sufficient attention because of the lack of effective screening tools. Bone turnover markers (BTMs) could reflect the changes of bone metabolism. Currently, reference intervals for bone metabolism during normal pregnancy are inconclusive. This study aimed to determine reference intervals for BTMs in pregnant women taking prenatal care and to facilitate clinical research on diseases affecting bone metabolism during pregnancy. ⋯ This study established reference intervals for BTMs in pregnant women and observed the changes in BTMs during the different trimesters of pregnancy. The present findings can help in clinical monitoring of the effects of pregnancy diseases on the bone metabolism of pregnant women.
