Adult-onset Still's disease (AOSD) is a rare inflammatory disease characterized by a classic triad of daily spike fever, arthritis, and a typical salmon-pink rash. The involvement of inflammatory cytokines by various factors such as infection, drug, or neoplasm causes refractory AOSD. ⋯ The disease activity of AOSD is exacerbated by multiple factors, including comorbidities or infections. Clinicians need to consider that monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance complications might become AOSD refractory by an elevation of the inflammatory cytokines. Moreover, further prospective studies are required to confirm this result.

A novel prognostic signature for lung adenocarcinoma based on cuproptosis-related lncRNAs: A Review.
Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is a highly heterogeneous disease with complex pathogenesis, high mortality, and poor prognosis. Cuproptosis is a new type of programmed cell death triggered by copper accumulation that may play an important role in cancer. LncRNAs are becoming valuable prognostic factors in cancer patients. ⋯ Tumor Mutational Burden analysis and chemotherapeutic drug sensitivity prediction were performed to assess the clinical feasibility of the risk model. The novel prognostic signature consisted of 5 potentially high-risk CRlncRNAs, MAP3K20-AS1, CRIM1-DT, AC006213.3, AC008035.1, and NR2F2-AS1, and 5 potentially protective CRlncRNAs, AC090948.1, AL356481.1, AC011477.2, AL031600.2, and AC026355.2, which had accurate and robust predictive power for LUAD patients. Collectively, the novel prognostic signature constructed based on CRlncRNAs can effectively assess and predict the prognosis of patients and provide a new perspective for the diagnosis and treatment of LUAD.

Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura with neurological impairment: A Review.
The last 2 decades have witnessed considerable advances in our understanding of thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP). However, there is still some ambiguity regarding the precise nature of this disease, especially with respect to nervous system involvement and the correct nomenclature. This article seeks to summarize the clinical manifestations of TTP and the associated diseases. ⋯ The concurrent occurrence of NMOSD and TTP in this patient is consistent with the characteristics of acquired autoimmunity. We highlight the importance of early recognition of TTP in patients with atypical presentation who may not have the expected clinical or laboratory findings. This is particularly important in TTP patients with other concomitant autoimmune diseases or age-related comorbid conditions.

The pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has posed a major health challenge for over 2 years. The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) that causes it belongs to single-stranded ribonucleic acid viruses and causes acute respiratory distress syndrome. The initial outbreak was discovered in December 2019 in Wuhan province, where SARS-CoV-2 quickly spread to other countries. ⋯ In view of the higher prevalence of atherosclerosis in patients with COVID-19, we described the pathomechanisms of the development of this infection and the possible correlations between SARS-CoV-2 infection and thromboembolic complications. We focused on the role of the inflammatory response, renin-angiotensin system and endothelial dysfunction in the development of atherosclerosis in patients with COVID-19. A thorough understanding of the hemodynamic mechanisms and the impact of the infection on the cardiovascular system will allow for the proper selection of appropriate therapy in patients after SARS-CoV-2 infection.

In developing nations such as Indonesia, obesity and central obesity have emerged as major public health issues. Many studies have revealed that morbidity and death from obesity-related diseases are already significant in some "Asian" communities at low body mass index (BMI) levels. A recent study showed that the obesity prevalence in Indonesia is underestimated when using the current BMI cutoff (obese ≥ 27.0). ⋯ An analysis of 58 studies in 2021 that included Indonesian adult subjects revealed enormous differences and ambiguities in defining obesity cutoffs values among Indonesian researchers. Additionally, we advocate adding the Edmonton Obesity Staging System (EOSS) staging to the anthropometric classification for a better clinical evaluation of obesity. Considering the urgency of obesity determination in Indonesia for clinical application and study purposes, this review highlights the need to revise the optimal cutoff value for obesity to warrant early prevention and control of diabetes complications.
