To measure differences in post-operative opioid usage and pain scores between pre- and post-Enhanced Recovery after Surgery (ERAS) radical cystectomy (RC) patients in an effort to optimize outcomes. ⋯ Our study suggests that a dedicated ERAS protocol following RC might be superior to traditional, non-ERAS methods in reducing postoperative opioid use and pain scores.

An increasing number of individuals are prescribed buprenorphine as medication-assisted treatment for opioid use disorder. Our institution developed guidelines for perioperative buprenorphine continuation with an algorithm for dose reduction based upon the surgical procedure and patient's maintenance dose. The objective of this study was to compare the effects of buprenorphine continuation with those of discontinuation on postoperative pain scores and outpatient opioid dispensing. ⋯ There was a significant reduction in opioid prescriptions filled, MME dispensed, and PACU pain scores in patients where buprenorphine was continued vs held perioperatively. We provide evidence to support that buprenorphine can be continued perioperatively and that continuation is associated with decreased postoperative pain and decreased outpatient opioid dispensing. These results contribute to the existing literature supporting the perioperative continuation of buprenorphine.

Liposomal bupivacaine (LB) is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for administration into surgical sites for postsurgical analgesia. The liposomal formulation allows for sustained effects up to 72 hours. ⋯ The use of LB in lumbar interbody fusion decreases patients' LOS but has little effect on reducing overall pain scores or opioid use in the 72-hour postoperative hospital period.

The effect of kinesio taping with the web strip technique on pain, edema, and trismus after impacted mandibular third molar surgery.
There are many methods used to alleviate edema, trismus, and pain after impacted third molar (3M) removal, one of which is Kinesio Taping (KT). ⋯ KT with the web strip technique should be considered more economic and less traumatic than other approaches, as it is free from systemic side effects and is a simple method to carry out to decrease morbidity.

Full Endoscopic Technique for High-Grade Up-Migrated Lumbar Disk Herniation via a Translaminar Keyhole Approach: Preliminary Series and Technical Note.
Technically and anatomically, accessing a high-grade migrated lumbar disk herniation (LDH) using traditional full endoscopic lumbar diskectomy (FELD) approaches (either transforaminal or interlaminar) is challenging. The objective of this study was to present an effective and safe surgical approach for high-grade up-migrated LDH by translaminar FELD. ⋯ Although full endoscopic technique via the translaminar keyhole route may not be used as a routine surgical approach, it could serve as a feasible alternative method for patients with highly up-migrated disk herniation.
