Review Meta Analysis
Postoperative pain relief after total knee arthroplasty: A Bayesian network meta-analysis and systematic review of analgesic strategies based on nerve blocks.
A Bayesian network meta-analysis was performed to compare the analgesic efficacy of the following nerve block techniques: femoral nerve block (FNB), adductor canal block (ACB), infiltration between the popliteal artery and the capsule of the posterior knee (iPACK), and genicular nerve block (GNB) following total knee arthroplasty (TKA). ⋯ PROSPERO (CRD42022362322).

Randomized Controlled Trial
Effect of esketamine combined with pregabalin on acute postsurgical pain in patients who underwent resection of spinal neoplasms: a randomized controlled trial.
Moderate-to-severe acute postsurgical pain (APSP) can prolong the recovery and worsen the prognosis of patients who undergo spinal surgery. Esketamine and pregabalin may resolve APSP without causing hyperpathia or respiratory depression after surgery. However, there are other risks, such as dissociative symptoms. ⋯ The incidence of moderate-to-severe APSP in the combined group (27.3%) was lower than that in the control group (60.5%) during the first 48 hours after surgery (odds ratio = 0.25, 95% CI = 0.10-0.61; P = 0.002). The occurrence of mild dissociative symptoms was higher in the combined group than in the control group (18.2% vs 0%). In conclusion, esketamine combined with pregabalin could effectively alleviate APSP after spinal surgery, but an analgesic strategy might increase the risk of mild dissociative symptoms.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyPostoperative pain, recovery and discharge after robot-assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy: A multicentre, single blinded, randomised controlled trial.
General anaesthesia is standard of care for patients undergoing robot assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy (RALP). However, postoperative pain and bladder discomfort remains an issue, and optimising pain management could improve recovery and promote earlier home discharge. The main objective of this trial was to evaluate if patients receiving spinal anaesthesia are more frequently home ready at 8 pm on the same day compared with multimodal pain management following RALP under general anaesthesia. ⋯ We found no difference in time to home readiness between the groups. Approximately one-fourth of the patients achieved home readiness the same day after surgery without difference between the groups. Fewer patients had urge, and patient satisfaction was greater in group GS.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study
Erector spinae plane block versus quadratus lumborum block for postoperative analgesia after laparoscopic nephrectomy: A randomized controlled trial.
We compared the analgesic effects of erector spinae plane block versus quadratus lumborum block following laparoscopic nephrectomy. ⋯ Compared with quadratus lumborum block, erector spinae plane block provided better analgesia as manifested by lower opioid consumption and pain intensity for up to 24 h after laparoscopic nephrectomy.

A retrospective chart review. ⋯ This study demonstrated a partial or complete union rate of 82% and a postoperative persistent pain rate of 15%. These figures are comparable to the previous study, and this pedicle-screw with wiring technique can be worth trying before interbody fusion for spondylolytic spondylolisthesis to preserve anatomical lumbar motion.
