Degenerative spondylolisthesis is a disease characterized by the displacement of a vertebra above the underlying vertebra. Lumbar arthrodesis is currently the most frequently performed surgical option for treatment due to the use of various approaches and techniques. The disease is characterized by low back pain, a clinical and public health problem, which in addition to having a socio-economic burden, severely affects functional status, quality of life (QoL), activity impairment, and health services. The study aims to investigate the benefits, in terms of pain, disability, andQoL, of lumbar arthrodesis surgery in patients with degenerative spondylolisthesis, at the latest follow-up. ⋯ The results show significant improvement in all measured variables, demonstrating that there are different surgical treatments to cure degenerative spondylolisthesis. However, residual pain impacting the QoL remains, regardless of the technique used. Therefore, the development of personalized pain management for patients with residual chronic pain is indicated.

A prospective longitudinal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) study. ⋯ Our study reveals a natural history of the long-term postoperative course of IVD degeneration after posterior decompression surgery for LSS. Compared with healthy controls, patients with LSS seemed to be predisposed to IVD degeneration. Lumbar decompression surgery may promote the progression of DSN; however, progression of IVD degeneration after lumbar decompression surgery was not associated with worsening LBP scores.

This study was designed to explore the effect of medical-nurse integration health education in aged patients undergoing percutaneous vertebroplasty. A total of 72 aged patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures, who obtained percutaneous vertebroplasty from June 2019 to May 2022 were selected in this study. Patients were divided into control group (n = 36) and experimental group (n = 36) according to the time of hospitalization. ⋯ The average Japanese Orthopaedic Association score of the observation group 1 week after operation was higher than that of the control group (P < .05). Moreover, most patients in the experimental group were very satisfied with the medical-nurse integration health education, while most patients in the control group were only satisfied (P < .001). For aged patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures treated by percutaneous vertebroplasty, medical-nurse integration health education could be an effective method to improve the ability of patients to obtain relevant education, enhance the compliance of patients for functional exercise and increase patient satisfaction to the education, and reduce residual low back pain in patients.

Diagnosing the precise etiology of low back pain (LBP) is crucial for facilitating speedy recovery in patients. Maigne's syndrome (MS), commonly referred to as thoracolumbar junction syndrome, is a condition characterized by pain resulting from nerve entrapment, yet its underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood. This study presents a series of six case reports wherein patients diagnosed with MS received acupuncture treatment. ⋯ These findings underscore the significance of promptly diagnosing the underlying cause of LBP and suggest that acupuncture may be an effective approach in alleviating MS-related pain.
