Spinal cord stimulation in the approach to chronic pelvic pain: A case report and literature review.
Chronic pelvic pain (CPP) is a pain related to pelvic structures that arise from posttraumatic pain, postsurgical pain, or somatic or visceral pain syndromes. Despite the available treatment options, CPP remains mostly untreated, due to difficulties in covering such a large area. ⋯ Through the combination of spinal cord stimulation Spectra Wavewriter and 3D programming technology, both lumbar and leg pain and CPP were successfully relieved, along with an improvement in the quality of life of the patient.

Despite high prevalence estimates, chronic low back pain (CLBP) remains poorly understood among older adults. Movement-evoked pain (MeP) is an understudied factor in this population that may importantly contribute to disability. This study investigated whether a novel MeP paradigm contributed to self-reported and performance-based function in older adults with CLBP. ⋯ Aggregated posttest MeP independently contributed to worse self-reported and performance-based function among older adults with CLBP. To understand long-term consequences of MeP, future studies should examine longitudinal associations between MeP and function in this population.

Spinal tuberculosis (TB) is the most common in bone and joint TB, of which vertebral TB is more common, while accessory TB is rare. The incidence of isolated adnexal lesions in spinal TB is 2% to 3%. It is difficult to distinguish the imaging changes of spinal adnexal TB from other types of spinal infections and spinal tumors, and the pathological diagnosis of spinal TB is often atypical. Here, we report a case of isolated lumbar facet joint TB. ⋯ We present a case of isolated TB of the lumbar facet joint, which was initially diagnosed as L2-3 vertebral lamina, facet joint, and intraspinal space-occupying osteochondroma. For patients with long-term low back pain, it is suggested to follow-up with lumbar computed tomography and lumbar magnetic resonance imaging when conventional X-ray examination does not show any lesion. Despite its rarity, isolated TB of the lumbar facet joint should be highly suspected in elderly patients with pulmonary TB, low-grade fever, and waist pain.

Birt-Hogg-Dubé syndrome (BHDS) is a rare genetic disease. Renal cell carcinoma is the most serious complication of BHDS. The histological types of BHDS-related renal cell carcinoma are mostly mixed chromophobe/eosinophil and chromophobe cell types. BHDS with unclassified renal cell carcinoma is extremely rare. ⋯ The pathogenesis of BHDS has not been fully elucidated, and the pathological type of BHDS with unclassified renal cell carcinoma is extremely rare. Through case presentation and review of related literature, this paper summarizes the diagnosis and treatment of BHDS complicated with unclassified renal cell carcinoma.
