Low back pain (LBP) is a leading cause of disability. However, the processes contributing to disability are not well understood. Therefore, this study (1) empirically derived LBP subgroups and (2) validated these subgroups using walking performance, pain, and disability measures. ⋯ The Maladaptive subgroup had reduced walking performance (slower self-selected walking speed, TUG completion, and obstacle approach and crossing speed) and worse clinical presentation (higher pain intensity, pain interference, and disability) (moderate to large effect sizes; P's < 0.05). Findings support the construct validity of this multidimensional subgrouping approach. Longitudinal studies are needed to determine whether the Maladaptive subgroup is predictive of poor outcomes, such as pain chronicity or persistent disability.

Negative Impacts of Prolonged Standing at Work on Musculoskeletal Symptoms and Physical Fatigue: The Fifth Korean Working Conditions Survey.
We aimed to investigate variations in the risk of low back pain (LBP), lower extremity muscle pain, and whole body fatigue according to differences in prolonged standing work hours in relation to risk factor exposure and rest frequency. ⋯ Changes in work methodologies are needed to lower the number of hours spent in a prolonged standing posture at work, including being able to rest when workers want to do so, to reduce pain and fatigue.

Cross-cultural adaptation and cross-sectional study. ⋯ The Hausa-RMDQ was successfully developed and proved to be a reliable and valid measure of functional disability in Hausa culture. This questionnaire is recommended for future clinical and scientific research purposes.Level of Evidence: 3.

Low back pain (LBP) is one of the most common disorders, with many possible causes including intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD) and Modic changes. In this study we aimed to analyze whether the distribution pattern of Modic changes in the vertebral end-plates was associated with the severity of IVDD. ⋯ Severe IVDD was significantly more common in patients with Modic changes through the whole end-plate and in those with Modic type I changes.
