The Efficiency of Manual Therapy and Sacroiliac and Lumbar Exercises in Patients with Sacroiliac Joint Dysfunction Syndrome.
Manual therapy, exercise therapy, and the combination of these 2 are common treatments for sacroiliac joint dysfunction syndrome. The effects of these treatments have been discussed in several studies; the superiority of one over the other for patients with sacroiliac joint dysfunction syndrome is still the subject of discussion. ⋯ Manual therapy is effective in the long term in sacroiliac joint dysfunction syndrome. Adding specific exercises for sacroiliac joints to the sacroiliac joints manipulation treatment further increases this effectiveness.

Cultural adaptation and psychometric analysis. ⋯ This is the first study in Nigeria to culturally adapt PSEQ. The PSEQ-Y showed adequate psychometric properties similar to existing versions. Therefore, the tool can be used to assess pain self-efficacy in clinical and research settings and help to improve the health outcomes of patients chronic LBP.Level of Evidence: 3.

This retrospective study compares the results of 2 different techniques of transforaminal epidural steroid injection (TFESI)-subpedicular (SP-TFESI) and lateral recess epidural steroid injection (LRSI) in relieving chronic lumbar radicular pain. ⋯ At the end of 24 weeks, LRSI appears to be a superior technique in relieving unilateral lumbar radicular pain due to a paracentral disc.

Lumbar Disc Herniation is a Nonnegligible Factor for the Degeneration of Sacroiliac Joints.
Sacroiliac joint (SIJ) abnormality is a potential source of low back pain (LBP), therefore numerous patients receive various treatments because of the degenerative changes of SIJ. However, the outcome is unfavorable for patients because these morphologic alterations are common but not the origins of LBP. Previous studies revealed lumbar fusion and transitional vertebra increased the prevalence of degeneration of SIJ. Lumbar disc herniation (LDH) is one of the most common lumbar diseases, but there is no study regarding the relationship between LDH and SIJ degradation. ⋯ The SIJ degeneration in patients with LDH was more serious than in individuals without LDH. SIJ degeneration was more significant in patients with LDH with more pathological alterations, symptoms, and complications. Age and LDH relate to SIJ degeneration. Therefore the diagnosis and selection of treatment for SIJ changes should comprehensively consider the coexistence of LDH.

We investigated the flexion-extension range of motion and centre of rotation of lumbar motion segments in a large population of 602 patients (3612 levels), and the associations between lumbar motion and other parameters such as sex, age and intervertebral disc degeneration. ⋯ This study constitutes the largest analysis of the in vivo lumbar motion currently available and covers a wide range of clinical scenarios in terms of age and degeneration. Findings confirmed that ageing determines a reduction in the mobility independently of degeneration and that in degenerative levels, centres of rotation are dispersed around the centre of the intervertebral space.
