Sustainability of cognitive behavioural interventions for chronic back pain: A long-term follow-up.
There is a significant research gap with respect to the long-term sustainability of psychological treatment effects in chronic pain patients. This study aimed to investigate long-term treatment effects of two psychological treatments: cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) as a broad-spectrum approach and exposure as a specific intervention for fear-avoidant pain patients. ⋯ The long-term stability of treatment effects is a highly neglected issue despite its inherent importance in the context of chronic pain. This study is the first to investigate treatment effects of cognitive behavioural therapy and in vivo exposure in chronic back pain sufferers up to 8 years after treatment. The findings contribute to an understanding of the sustainability of psychological cognitive behavioural therapy-based intervention effects.

Mechanical and inflammatory factors were suggested as the causes of spine degeneration and low back pain (LBP). Previous studies partly reported the association of LBP with inflammation. However, none of them compared patients with LBP and asymptomatic subjects in terms of complete blood count and inflammatory markers in detail. We aimed to analyze the association of serum white blood cell (WBC) count, C-reactive protein (CRP), and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) with chronic LBP by comparing the patients with chronic LBP and age- and gender-matched asymptomatic subjects. ⋯ Higher serum monocyte and basophil counts and serum ESR above new cut-off values should highlight the need to obtain early spinal imaging to prevent chronicity in patients with LBP.

Low back pain, pelvic pain, and associated factors in type 1 diabetic pregnant women.
Pregnancy and diabetes mellitus promote several musculoskeletal changes predisposing this population to complaints of Lower Back (LB) and Pelvic Pain (PP). ⋯ There was a high frequency of LB and PP related to pregnancy in DM1 pregnant women in the second trimester of pregnancy. The incidence of sexual dysfunction and DM1 duration ≥ 17 years increases the chance that DM1 pregnant women will experience pain. There was no association between anxiety. urinary incontinence and pain in DM1 pregnant women.

Lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS) causes low back pain, leg pain, numbness in the leg, and neurogenic intermittent claudication. Epidural steroid injection (ESI) has been used for treating spinal stenosis symptoms. We hypothesized that dural pulsation was variable for lumbar spinal stenosis. In cases of the presence of dural pulsation, the pain relief after the ESI was better than in the absence of dural pulsation. This study aimed at investigating the relationships between the presence or absence of spinal dural pulsations and the efficacy of ESI. ⋯ The ESI was effective in patients with spinal stenosis in short-term follow-up. Dural pulsation of the spinal cord was a positive predictive factor for the ESI effect, but the grade of spinal stenosis severity had no effect on the effectiveness of ESI.

Validation of the Arabic Version of the Attitude Toward Education and Advice for Low Back Pain Questionnaire.
This cross-sectional study aimed to validate the Arabic version of the Attitude toward Education and Advice for Low Back Pain (AxEL) Questionnaire. ⋯ The Arabic version of AxEL is a valid tool that can assess individuals' beliefs and attitudes towards low back pain (LBP). It fills a significant void in cross-cultural research and can help healthcare providers understand the attitudes and beliefs influencing individuals' management of LBP within the Arabic context.
