Cadaveric study identifying clinical sonoanatomy for proximal and distal approaches of ultrasound-guided intercostobrachial nerve block.
The intercostobrachial nerve (ICBN) has significant anatomical variation. Localization of the ICBN requires an operator's skill. This cadaveric study aims to describe two simple ultrasound-guided plane blocks of the ICBN when it emerges at the chest wall (proximal approach) and passes through the axillary fossa (distal approach). ⋯ The proximal and distal ICBN blocks, using easily recognized sonoanatomical landmarks, provided consistent dye spread to the ICBN. We encourage further validation of these two techniques in clinical studies.

Nerve Blocks for Postoperative Pain Management in Children Receiving a Subcutaneous Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillator: A Case Series.
Subcutaneous implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (S-ICD) placement causes significant postoperative pain. Limited research exists on nerve blocks for treating pediatric S-ICD pain. This case series presents pain outcomes in 10 children receiving nerve blocks for S-ICD placement. ⋯ The predominant combination of bilateral parasternal blocks with a left ESP block seemed to contribute toward adequate pain control. These children appeared to have low pain scores, low opioid consumption, and no block complications. Nerve blocks may benefit pediatric patients after S-ICD implantation.

Lumbar plexus block versus suprainguinal fascia iliaca block for total hip arthroplasty: A single-blinded, randomized trial.
Comparison of ultrasound-guided lumbar plexus block (LPB) and suprainguinal fascia iliaca block (SIFIB) in patients undergoing total hip arthroplasty (THA). ⋯ For THA, no differences were found between LPB and SIFIB in terms of breakthrough morphine requirement and pain control. However, SIFIB resulted in a longer block and was associated with shorter time to readiness for discharge as well as decreased hospital stay.
