Dental decision-making represents the establishment of a common understanding between the dental professional and the recipient of the intervention, which determines oral healthcare and dental treatment policies. Dental decision-making for persons with dementia can be challenging, and there have been no systematic reviews on this topic. Therefore, this systematic narrative review aimed to identify the current state of dental decision-making in persons with dementia. ⋯ Through the process of research selection, 7 articles with a high risk of bias were included in this study. This review clarified that there is limited information on the dental decision-making processes for persons with dementia. In conclusion, although this may be difficult due to different medical and socioeconomic conditions, the dilemma between the need to establish evidence for dental decision-making and medical ethics that prioritize a patient-centered position should be discussed globally in the future.

Identification of a novel genomic variance of BRAF1 in papillary thyroid carcinoma: A case report.
Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC), the predominant subtypes accounting for approximately 85% of thyroid carcinomas, has a rapidly increasing global incidence rate. Statistically, approximately 74.6% PTC patients had the genomic variants of BRAF, especially BRAFV600E mutation, which has been reported to stratify patients and guide clinic-therapies. However, some PTC patients may carry other nonclassical mutation patterns of BRAF, due to the complex of genomic instability. And the spectrum of BRAF mutation was not fully characterized. We reported a novel BRAF mutation pattern of PTC. ⋯ This is the first case of the novel nonclassical genomic variant of BRAF. Our study extends the spectrum of BRAF mutations. The patient had a favorable response to microwave ablation, indicating that in spite of the association between this mutation and high-grade malignant phenotype, this genomic variant of BRAF did not have a detrimental effect on the response of clinical treatment.

Zhishi Xiebai Guizhi Decoction for coronary heart disease: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Coronary heart disease (CHD) is a type of cardiovascular disease (CVD) caused by coronary atherosclerosis. It is a main cause of medical burden and cardiovascular related death. Zhishi Xiebai Guizhi Decoction (ZXGD) is a representative prescription of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in the treatment of CHD, but there is poor systemically evidence-based appraisal. ⋯ ZXGD is effective and safe in the treatment of CHD. However, more rigorous and high-quality RCTs are needed to verify the conclusion.

Gender differences in the incidence of chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension after acute pulmonary embolism: A meta-analysis.
To explore the role of gender in the incidence of chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension after acute pulmonary embolism. ⋯ Gender is found to be absent as a factor in the incidence of CTEPH after acute pulmonary embolism. This may indicate that gender is not a risk factor for CTEPH and that female patients are not necessarily more likely to have a higher incidence than male patients. As such, accurate judgments should be made on the possible complications of all patients after acute pulmonary embolism, which will be conducive to early detection and intervention in the treatment of CTEPH.

Melanocytic nevus occurring in the external auditory canal (EAC) is uncommon. Therefore, in the absence of sufficient clinical experience, this disease may be challenging to be suspected even with a physical examination. Herein, clinical and demographic features of intradermal nevus in the EAC were investigated. ⋯ In women, a dome-shaped or papillomatous mass with dark color in the EAC may likely be predicted as the nevus. However, it can also occur in men, and even if it is a pale color, in the case of a dome shape, taking the nevus into account is important. Moreover, successful treatment outcomes were achieved through circumferential excision.
