Meta Analysis
A meta-analysis of the efficacy and safety of the traditional Chinese medicine formula Kaixinsan decoction for depression.
Kaixinsan (KXS) decoction is a traditional Chinese herbal formulation commonly used to treat depression. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of KXS, which is widely used, alone and in combination with other therapies, for the treatment of depression. The main objective was to assess the efficacy and safety of KXS in the treatment of depression as a single agent or in combination with other methods. ⋯ The results showed that the frequency of side effects in the control group was higher than that in the treatment group, and there was a statistically significant difference. KXS was comparable or superior to antidepressants in treating depression and has fewer side effects. The data analysis showed that effectiveness and other indicators differed significantly by geographic area and dosage form, which has implications for future clinical work.

Adjuvant trastuzumab for triple-positive breast cancer with chronic renal failure: A case report and review of literature.
Although the occurrence of combined renal insufficiency among patients with breast cancer is even rarer, it poses a significant challenge in the treatment of these patients. Treating such patients often requires both targeted and endocrine therapies. However, oncologists lack evidence-based guidelines for managing renal function in patients with renal insufficiency. ⋯ We report a case of triple-positive breast cancer in a patient undergoing hemodialysis. There was no difference in the treatment approach between patients with and without normal renal function.

Lingering Impact of COVID-19, Preventive Care Considerations, and US Health System Challenges.
This issue includes articles on the lingering impact of COVID-19, often negative but occasionally positive, on patients, treatment, practices, and health care personnel. Other articles inform on prevention, such as awareness of lung cancer screening among women undergoing screening mammography; failures on sports preparticipation physicals; advance care planning as prevention; and screening for social risk factors. ⋯ There is a review of perinatal depression recognition and treatment. Two articles separately identify the difficulties of the congressionally created Medicare Advantage & Pharmaceutical Benefit Managers.

Prognostic factors and constructing a nomogram in tracheal cancer patients treated with surgical intervention: A study based on SEER database.
Although surgery is considered the first choice of treatment for patients diagnosed with tracheal cancer, the prediction of overall survival (OS) in patients undergoing surgical intervention is poor. To address this issue, we developed a nomogram that combined a risk classification system to estimate the OS of patients with tracheal cancer who underwent surgical intervention. A total of 525 qualified patients were selected from the surveillance, epidemiology, and end results database between 1975 and 2018 and were randomly divided into training and validation cohorts (7:3). ⋯ Furthermore, the low-risk group had a better prognosis than the high-risk group in the total, training, and validation cohorts (all P < .001). This study established a novel nomogram system to predict OS and identify independent prognostic factors in patients with tracheal cancer who underwent surgical intervention. This model has the potential to assist doctors in making decisions regarding treatment options.

Hand-foot-mouth disease (HFMD) caused by Enterovirus A71, complicated by cardiopulmonary failure, is associated with a high mortality rate despite intensive treatment. To date, there is a paucity of clinical management data, regarding the use of extracorporeal life support (VA-ECMO) for Enterovirus-A71 associated cardiopulmonary failure reported. ⋯ Our study highlights that extracorporeal membrane oxygenation and CRRT can enhance the survival outcomes of patients with severe HFMD with cardiopulmonary failure complications. Furthermore, we propose specific indications for the initiation of VA-ECMO.
