The cryoablation efficacy of semisolid freezing nitrogen ethanol composite (FNEC) has been demonstrated. We aimed to investigate the feasibility of adjuvant FNEC-assisted cryoablation in different bone cavity types by assessing the perioperative complication rates. ⋯ All bone cavity types had a low incidence of perioperative complications after treatment with adjuvant FNEC-assisted cryoablation. Semisolid FNEC-assisted cryoablation is a feasible alternative to overcome the liquid spill potential in bone cavities resulting from tumor resection and intralesional curettage.

The coronavirus pandemic followed a succession of COVID-19 waves globally, and had a varying pattern of frequency of cases and disease spectrum as each wave came with its distinct viral characteristics. The objective of this study was to compare clinical characteristics, treatments and outcomes of patients admitted with severe COVID -19 pneumonia in all four waves at Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital (RTEH). ⋯ Comparison of COVID-19 pneumonia patients across pandemic waves has revealed dynamic trends in patient outcomes. The initial waves had higher ICU admissions and mortality rate, suggesting a need for improved early response and resource allocation. Continuous adaptability in healthcare strategies was paramount for enhancing patient care during the ever-changing pandemic landscape.

Three Episodes of Postanesthesia Paradoxical Vocal Cord Motion Disorder in the Same Patient: A Case Report.
Postanesthesia paradoxical vocal cord motion disorder (PVCMD) is often benign. However, if not recognized, PVCMD can lead to unnecessary treatments. Our patient had 3 different surgeries over a period of 20 months. ⋯ The third episode of PVCMD occurred after a cervical fusion surgery. Prevertebral edema from surgery further compromised the airways. Our case demonstrates the challenges of identifying and managing perioperative PVCMD, especially when surgical complications confound the airway management.

The molecular mechanism for nobiletin's protective effect against heatstroke-induced acute lung injury (HS-ALI) remains largely unknown. Previous research has demonstrated that ferroptosis is an important pathogenic event in HS-ALI. Nobiletin is a natural polymethoxylated flavonoid. ⋯ Meanwhile, p53 knockdown significantly increased GPX4 and SLC7A11 expression levels compared with the HS group in HS-induced MLE-12 cells. Subsequently, nobiletin ameliorated HS-induced MLE-12 cells ferroptosis by activating the SLC7A11/GPX4 pathway, whereas p53 overexpression effectively abolished the protective effect of nobiletin. Taken together, our findings reveal that nobiletin attenuates HS-ALI by inhibiting ferroptosis through the p53/SLC7A11 pathway, indicating it to be a potential therapeutic agent for HS-ALI prevention and treatment.
