The pathogenesis of diabetic kidney disease (DKD) is complex, and the existing treatment methods cannot control disease progression well. Macrophages play an important role in the development of DKD. This study aimed to search for biomarkers involved in immune injury induced by macrophages in DKD. ⋯ Clinical validation showed that 2 hub genes were negatively correlated with the estimated glomerular filtration rate in DKD patients. In addition, FN1 and TGFBI showed a strong positive correlation with macrophage alternative activation. FN1 and TGFBI are promising biomarkers for the diagnosis and treatment of DKD patients, which may participate in immune response and fibrosis induced by macrophages.

To systematically assess the efficacy and safety of agomelatine in the treatment of patients with depressive disorder. ⋯ Agomelatine was superior comparable to placebo in the treatment of patients with depressive disorder, and has fewer adverse events.

Advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) such as clinical nurse specialists and nurse practitioners excel at chronic disease management. Development of an APRN-led heart failure (HF) clinic is an ideal way to manage complex HF patients. However, there are important factors to consider when implementing an APRN-led HF clinic. ⋯ The increasing need for primary care and internal medicine providers supports using APRNs to fill the gap and provide disease management for HF patients. Also, APRNs can impact the overall costs of HF treatment by optimizing postdischarge care and preventing hospitalizations and readmissions. Multiple studies supported implementation of APRN-led HF clinics for disease management to provide complex treatment strategies and comprehensive care to these patients.

Cervical cancer (CC) is the fourth most common cancer in women worldwide. It develops through precancerous lesions (cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN), graded from low-grade (CIN1) to high-grade (CIN2-3)). It is well established that precancerous and cancerous cervical lesions are caused by a persistent infection with high-risk types of the human papilloma virus (hrHPV). ⋯ HPV integration breakpoints occurred in 28.6% of the CIN2/3 samples with HPV infection. Integrations of common high risk HPV types in CCs, including HPV16, 52, 58 and 68, also occurred in the CIN samples. Our results lay the groundwork for a deeper understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis of CC and pave the way for new tools for screening, diagnosis and treatment of cervical precancerous and cancerous lesions.

In the clinic, atrial fibrillation (AF) is a common arrhythmia. Despite constant innovation in treatments for AF, they remain limited by a lack of knowledge of the underlying mechanism responsible for AF. In this study, we examined the molecular mechanisms associated with primary mitral regurgitation (MR) in AF using several bioinformatics techniques. ⋯ The AUCs for the 8 hub genes screened by the PPI network analysis were > 0.7, indicating satisfactory diagnostic accuracy. The 8 AF-related hub genes included SYT13, VSNL1, GNAO1, RGS4, RALYL, CPLX1, CHGB, and CPLX3. Our findings provide novel insight into the molecular mechanisms of AF and may lead to the development of new treatments.
