The fear of death associated with cancer and the side effects of its treatments can have a detrimental psychological impact on breast cancer patients. Early detection and support services play a crucial role in alleviating the expected symptoms of depression, anxiety, and sexual dysfunction. The objective of our study is to assess the levels of depression, anxiety, and sexual dysfunction in breast cancer patients, as well as identify the factors that influence these conditions. ⋯ Factors linked to higher scores were mastectomy, surgical dissatisfaction, insufficient information on sexual side effects, and comorbidities like smoking and diabetes. The study emphasizes the importance of closely monitoring anxiety, depression levels, and sexual side effects in breast cancer treatment. It underscores the need to focus not only on reducing mortality rates but also on supporting patients' psychological and sexual well-being, ultimately improving their overall quality of life.

Treatment options for hospitalized people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) with opportunistic infections and comorbidities are limited in China. Albuvirtide (ABT), a new peptide drug, is a long-acting HIV fusion inhibitor with limited drug-drug interactions and fast onset time. This single-center, retrospective cohort study investigated the effectiveness and safety of ABT plus dolutegravir (DTG) therapy in a real-world setting. ⋯ Except for limited laboratory abnormalities such as hyperuricemia, increased creatinine level, and hyperglycemia observed after treatment, no other clinical adverse events were considered related to ABT plus DTG. Data suggests that ABT plus DTG is safe and effective for critically-ill hospitalized PLWHA. In view of the rapid viral load suppression and restoration of CD4 + count within 8 weeks of treatment, its clinical application warrants further investigation.

To investigate the value of Anoctamin 6 (ANO6) in breast cancer (BC) by analyzing its expression, prognostic impact, biological function, and its association with immune characteristics. We initially performed the expression and survival analyses, followed by adopting restricted cubic spline to analyze the nonlinear relationship between ANO6 and overall survival (OS). Stratified and interaction analyses were conducted to further evaluate its prognostic value in BC. ⋯ Moreover, ANO6 was notably correlated with immune checkpoint expression levels, and scores of tumor mutation burden and microsatellite instability (all P < .05). ANO6 was an independent prognostic factor for BC, and might be a potential target for the BC treatment. Besides, ANO6 might affect BC progression via the regulation of stroma-related pathways and macrophage polarization.

Clarithromycin is an antibiotic commonly used to treat Helicobacter pylori infections. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) advises caution before prescribing clarithromycin to patients with cardiac diseases. This study aimed to evaluate cardiac events after anti-H pylori treatment in patients with coronary artery disease. ⋯ Neither life-threatening dysrhythmia nor cardiac death was noted. The risk factors for cardiac events within 3 months after therapy were smoker (OR:5.38, 95% CI:1.39-20.78), and events within 1 year were smoker (OR:3.8, 95% CI:1.41-10.22), and diabetes mellitus (OR:5.68, 95% CI:1.9-16.98). Among patients with coronary artery disease who received anti-H pylori therapy, short-term cardiac events did not increase in clarithromycin users but should be considered in diabetic and smoking patients.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the difference in D-dimer (D-D) combined with the platelet lymphocyte ratio (PLR) and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) before treatment in small cell lung cancer (SCLC) patients receiving first-line treatment and to analyze the efficacy and prognosis. We retrospectively collected the records of SCLC patients treated in our hospital from February 2019 to January 2023 and finally included 100 patients. A binary logistic regression analysis method was applied to analyze the relationship between D-D, PLR, and NLR and short-term efficacy. ⋯ Pretreatment PLR is an independent predictor of short-term efficacy in SCLC patients. Pretreatment D-D, PLR and NLR are potential biochemical markers for predicting the prognosis of SCLC patients treated with first-line treatment. When D-D is combined with PLR and NLR, it shows stronger predictive ability.
