As the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic surged in New York City, the city's public hospital system, New York City Health + Hospitals, recognized that innovative technological solutions were needed to respond to the crisis. Our health system recently transitioned to a unified enterprisewide electronic medical record across all of our hospitals. This accelerated our ability to implement a series of technological solutions to the crisis. ⋯ We standardized patient workup using specialty-specific order sets, created dashboards to give insight into enterprisewide bed availability and facilitate transfers from the hardest-hit hospitals, and improved the patient experience by using tablets to connect patients with loved ones. The technology bridged divides between different hospital systems across New York City to encourage the sharing of data and improve patient care. By rapidly expanding its use of information technology, NYC Health + Hospitals was able to respond to the COVID-19 surge and is now better positioned to work in a more integrated fashion in the future.

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) chilblains is a well-reported cutaneous pattern of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2). Through this narrative review, we provide an evidence-based overview of idiopathic and secondary chilblains, distinguishing features of COVID-19 chilblains, and a systematic clinical approach to history, examination, investigations, and treatment. ⋯ The timing of onset of COVID-19 chilblains relative to active SARS-CoV-2 viremia remains unclear. Patients with suspected COVID-19 chilblains should thus follow public health guidelines for COVID-19 testing and self-isolation.

The otolaryngologist's and anesthesiologist's collaborative role in a pandemic: A large quaternary pediatric center's experience with COVID-19 preparation and simulation.
There has been a rapid global spread of a novel coronavirus, the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), which originated in Wuhan China in late 2019. A serious threat of nosocomial spread exists and as such, there is a critical necessity for well-planned and rehearsed processes during the care of the COVID-19 positive and suspected patient to minimize transmission and risk to healthcare providers and other patients. ⋯ We describe our institutional approach to COVID-19 perioperative pandemic planning at a large quaternary pediatric hospital including operating room management and remote airway management. We outline our processes for the safe and effective care of these patients with emphasis on simulation and pathways necessary to protect healthcare workers and other personnel from exposure while still providing safe, effective, and rapid care.
