Cognitive dysfunction occurs mainly in certain diseases and in the pathological process of aging. In addition to this, it is also widespread in patients undergoing anesthesia, surgery, and cancer chemotherapy. Neuroinflammation, oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, impaired synaptic plasticity, and lack of neurotrophic support are involved in copper-induced cognitive dysfunction. ⋯ Cuproptosis is a copper-dependent, lipoylated mitochondrial protein-driven, non-apoptotic mode of regulated cell death, which provides us with new avenues for identifying and treating related diseases. However, the exact mechanism by which cuproptosis induces cognitive decline is still unclear, and this has attracted the interest of many researchers. In this paper, we analyzed the pathological mechanisms and therapeutic targets of copper-associated cognitive decline, mainly in the context of neurodegenerative diseases, psychiatric and psychological disorders, and diabetes mellitus.

Brain-predicted age difference estimated using DeepBrainNet is significantly associated with pain and function-a multi-institutional and multiscanner study.
Brain age predicted differences (brain-PAD: predicted brain age minus chronological age) have been reported to be significantly larger for individuals with chronic pain compared with those without. However, a debate remains after one article showed no significant differences. Using Gaussian Process Regression, an article provides evidence that these negative results might owe to the use of mixed samples by reporting a differential effect of chronic pain on brain-PAD across pain types. ⋯ Moreover, brain-PAD was significantly related to multiple variables underlying the multidimensional pain experience. This comprehensive work adds evidence of pain type-specific effects of chronic pain on brain age. This could help in the clarification of the debate around possible relationships between brain aging mechanisms and pain.

Comparison of the Effects of Body Mechanics Education Methods on Pain, Disability, and Quality of Life: A Randomized Controlled Study.
Educating patients undergoing surgery for LDH is important to maintain the proper performance of body mechanics. ⋯ Preoperative education on body mechanics increases the physical functioning of patients with LDH and facilitates the integration of information into their daily activities.

Management of Pulmonary Hypertension Associated with Chronic Lung Disease.
Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a common complication of chronic lung diseases, particularly in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and interstitial lung diseases (ILD) and especially in advanced disease. It is associated with greater mortality and worse clinical course. Given the high prevalence of some respiratory disorders and because lung parenchymal abnormalities might be present in other PH groups, the appropriate diagnosis of PH associated with respiratory disease represents a clinical challenge. ⋯ Patients with severe PH (as defined by pulmonary vascular resistance >5 Wood units) should be referred to a center with expertise in PH and lung diseases and ideally included in randomized controlled trials. Targeted PAH therapy might be considered in this subset of patients, with careful monitoring of gas exchange. In patients with ILD, inhaled treprostinil has been shown to improve functional ability and to delay clinical worsening.

Iatrogenic coronary artery dissections (ICAD) are rare but potentially devastating complications during coronary angiography and percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI). Intima media complex separation may be produced either by the catheter tip or during PCI. ⋯ A prompt recognition, along with a prompt management (either percutaneous, surgical or even careful watching), are key in preventing catastrophic consequences of ICAD, such as left ventricular dysfunction, cardiogenic shock, periprocedural myocardial infarction (MI) or cardiac death. This review aims to summarize the main updates concerning the pathophysiology, highlight key risk factors and suggest recommendations in management and treatment of ICAD.
