Intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH) is a type of ventricular bleeding that results in significant morbidity and mortality. Multiple studies have investigated the use of urokinase in IVH treatment. The use of urokinase may lead to higher rates of hematoma resolution and lower mortality rates. However, further studies are required to determine efficacy of urokinase administration. This study examined the association between urokinase use, IVH volume reduction, and clinical outcomes. ⋯ This study found that intraventricular urokinase use in patients with IVH was not associated with reduced IVH severity. In addition, urokinase use was not associated with better functional outcomes or minor shunt dependency rates.

A 33-year-old man presented with a 10-day history of fever, dry cough, and dyspnea. He reported small amounts of frank hemoptysis that occurred several times a day for the past 3 days and a reduction in urine volume. ⋯ He had a medical history of childhood asthma and untreated hypertension for the past 2 years. He had no history of smoking, recent travel, medication use, or occupational inhalation.

Postpartum depression and anxiety (PPD/A) impact a woman's physical and psychological wellbeing. In the absence of corroboratory evidence from the community setting in India, the present study was undertaken to examine the prevalence, psychosocial correlates and risk factors for PPD/A in the rural community of India. ⋯ Rural Indian women experience PPD/A/both which causes stress and impacts their functionality, bonding with the infant and relationship with their spouse and parents. Higher education, marital satisfaction and higher support from partners and in-laws reduce the risk of developing PPD/A/both.

The Child-Turcotte-Pugh (CTP) score is widely used for assessing the liver's functional reserve in patients with advanced chronic liver disease (ACLD) and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). This study aims to explore the outcomes of patients with HCC and CTP class B and to investigate the prognostic accuracy of prediction models for ACLD in these patients. ⋯ Patients in the CTP-B7 and CTP-B8 groups had comparable OS, both of which were better than those in the CTP-B9 group. Moreover, MELD 3.0 provided the most accurate mortality prediction in patients with HCC and CTP class B.

Refractory apraxia of eyelid opening (AEO) is mostly unresponsive to botulinum toxin (BTx) and inevitably leads to functional blindness. To treat this challenging condition, an innovative surgical technique was proposed. ⋯ Extended FOOM flap shortening is an effective treatment to solve refractory AEO associated with blepharospasm.
