Review Case Reports
Neuroendocrine tumors in a patient with multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1 syndrome: A case report and review of the literature.
Hyperparathyroidism is caused by parathyroid tumors combined with gastroenteropancreatic tumors and pituitary tumors, which is common in patients with multiple endocrine neoplasia 1 syndrome (MEN-1). As its main pathogenic factor involves genetic mutations, it can cause a variety of different clinical symptoms. However, cases with negative genetic testing results and multiple nonfunctional malignant neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) with metastasis are relatively rare. ⋯ As an autosomal dominant hereditary disease, MEN-1 patients present with parathyroid hyperplasia, pancreatic and intestinal tumors, pituitary tumors, and so on, which are caused by genetic mutations. These patients would have hyperparathyroidism, hypoglycemia, gastric ulcer, and gastrointestinal diseases. However, some patients with MEN-1 syndrome cannot be diagnosed by genetic testing and simultaneously present with multiple nonfunctional NETs with systemic metastasis. This increases the difficulty of diagnosis and the subsequent treatment.

Insomnia is the most common sleep disorder, with persistent insomnia being associated with greater risk and leading to a range of functional consequences that place a heavy burden on patients and healthcare systems. A weight of evidence has shown that complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) seems to have a positive effect on improving sleep. However, the research trends of CAM intervention for insomnia have not been studied systematically through bibliometrics. ⋯ Mental condition and quality of life in patients with insomnia, insomnia related to cancer, effect of mindfulness meditation, yoga and aromatherapy on insomnia and the psychiatric symptoms resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic are at the forefront of this field. In this study, bibliometrics and visualization analysis were performed on related studies on CAM intervention for insomnia. This will be the focus and development direction of insomnia treatment in the future to formulate structured treatment plans for traditional Chinese medicine-related CAM, validate large-scale clinical trials, solve cancer comorbidity insomnia and related psychiatric symptoms and deal with mental health-related insomnia after public health outbreaks.

Acute basilar artery occlusion (ABAO) after endovascular treatment (EVT) is often associated with a poor prognosis, particularly in patients with cerebellar infarction who may develop malignant cerebellar edema. The present study aimed to investigate how massive cerebellar infarction (MCI) affects hospitalization outcomes in ABVO patients who undergo EVT. We conducted a retrospective study of ABVO patients who underwent EVT at our hospital between September 2017 and September 2022. ⋯ Additionally, an extremely poor prognosis was independently associated with stent implantation, EVT duration, and body mass index, while mRS score improvement was correlated with EVT duration and pulmonary infection. MCI in ABAO patients is a significant independent risk factor for a poor prognosis at discharge and no improvement in function score compared to onset. Early diagnosis and intervention are necessary to improve outcomes, particularly in high-risk populations.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most malignant tumors with a poor prognosis. The long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) has been found to have great potential as a prognostic biomarker or therapeutic target for cancer patients. However, the prognostic value and tumor immune infiltration of lncRNAs in HCC has yet to be fully elucidated. ⋯ A 6-lncRNA panel of HCC consisting of RHPN1-AS1, LINC01224, CTD-2510F5.4, RP1-228H13.5, LINC01011, and RP11-324I22.4 was eventually identified, and show good performance in predicting the survivals of patients with HCC and distinguishing the immunomodulation of TIME of high- and low-risk patients. Functional analysis also suggested that this 6-lncRNA panel may play an essential role in promoting tumor progression and immune regulation of TIME. In this study, 6 potential lncRNAs were identified as the prognostic biomarkers in HCC, and the regulatory mechanisms involved in HCC were initially explored.

The objective was to explore the relationships between computed tomography (CT) lung volume parameters and pulmonary function test (PFT) indexes and develop predictive scores to predict PFT indexes in Chinese preoperative patients suspected with lung cancer. Preoperative patients suspected with lung cancer aged 18 years or more and examined by chest CT scan and PET were consecutively recruited from April to August 2020, at Yunnan Cancer Hospital. CT and PET data were selected from medical record. ⋯ The area under the curve of receiver operating characteristics for FEV1 <2L, FEV1% <80%, FEV1/FVC <80% and FVC% <80% were 0.856, 0.667, 0.749 and 0.715, respectively. A prediction of poor lung function in preoperative patients suspected with lung cancer, using total lung volume and percent of low attenuation volume was possible. The predictive scores should be further evaluated for external validity.
