To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) mind-body therapies in patients with neuropathic pain. ⋯ Low-quality evidence showed that TCM mind-body therapies might reduce pain intensity and improve physical function when used as an adjuvant therapy or monotherapy. There is a need to conduct high-quality trials to confirm the effectiveness and safety of TCM mind-body therapies for neuropathic pain.

Evaluation of a community health worker home visit intervention to improve child development in South Africa: A cluster-randomized controlled trial.
Effective integration of home visit interventions focused on early childhood development into existing service platforms is important for expanding access in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). We designed and evaluated a home visit intervention integrated into community health worker (CHW) operations in South Africa. ⋯ While the home visit intervention did not significantly impact linear growth or skills, we found significant improvement in SRT. This study contributes to a growing literature documenting the positive effects of home visit interventions on child development in LMICs. This study also demonstrates the feasibility of collecting markers of neural function like EEG power and SRT in low-resource settings.

This review aimed to identify, summarize, and appraise the evidence supporting the coexistence of myofascial pain (MPS) and trigger points (MTrP) in osteoarthritis (OA), and the effectiveness of MTrPs treatments in OA-related pain and physical function outcomes. ⋯ The study protocol was prospectively registered in Open Science Framework (https://doi.org/10.17605/OSF.IO/8DVU3).

ReviewMolecular Function and Contribution of TBX4 in Development and Disease.
Over the past decade, recognition of the profound impact of the TBX4 (T-box 4) gene, which encodes a member of the evolutionarily conserved family of T-box-containing transcription factors, on respiratory diseases has emerged. The developmental importance of TBX4 is emphasized by the association of TBX4 variants with congenital disorders involving respiratory and skeletal structures; however, the exact role of TBX4 in human development remains incompletely understood. Here, we discuss the developmental, tissue-specific, and pathological TBX4 functions identified through human and animal studies and review the published TBX4 variants resulting in variable disease phenotypes. We also outline future research directions to fill the gaps in our understanding of TBX4 function and of how TBX4 disruption affects development.

ReviewPerioperative management and surgical field optimization in functional endoscopic sinus surgery.
A sound anesthesiologist-surgeon collaboration is crucial for the success of functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS). The aim of this narrative review was to describe if and how anesthetic choice can decrease bleeding and improve visibility in the surgical field (VSF) and thus contribute to successful FESS. A literature search was conducted on evidence-based practices published from 2011 to 2021 describing perioperative care, intravenous/inhalation anesthetics, and operative approaches for FESS and their effects on blood loss and VSF. ⋯ We recommend that anesthesiologists use the anesthetic technique with which they are most comfortable to facilitate efficiency, recovery, cost, and collaboration with the perioperative team. Future studies should be designed to consider disease severity, the method for measuring blood loss, and a standardized VSF score. Studies should also investigate the long-term effects of TIVA- and IA- induced hypotension.
