Rapid antigen point-of-care tests (antigen POC tests) are frequently used to detect COVID-19 infections. Based on clinical impressions, we suspected that the sensitivity of antigen POC tests might be lower in vaccinated patients. ⋯ Point-of-care antigen tests are likely not useful for ruling out SARS-CoV-2 infection, especially in vaccinated and asymptomatic patients, potentially due to lower viral load. Moreover, the use of these tests might lead to a false sense of security, especially when used by the public as part of a public health testing strategy.

SARS-CoV-2-related ARDS is associated with endothelial dysfunction and profound dysregulation of the thrombotic-fibrinolytic pathway. Defibrotide is a polyanionic compound with fibrinolytic, antithrombotic, and antiinflammatory properties. ⋯ The use of defibrotide for management of SARS-CoV-2-related ARDS proved safe and tolerable. No hemorrhagic or thrombotic complications were reported during therapy, with promising outcomes in a patient population with a historically high mortality rate.

Evaluation of 254 cesarean sections with COVID-19 in terms of anesthesia and clinical course: 1-year experience.
The study aims to compare anesthesia methods, clinical course, and maternal and fetal outcomes of symptomatic and asymptomatic pregnant women undergoing cesarean operation with confirmed COVID-19. ⋯ Close follow-up of the laboratory values and comorbidities (especially asthma) of pregnant will provide information about the clinical course as in other patient groups. Spinal anesthesia is a safe and sufficient anesthesia method in both symptomatic and asymptomatic COVID-19 pregnant women when performed by experienced hands.

Serial national level serosurveys in India have provided valuable information regarding the spread of COVID-19 pandemic in the general population, but the impact of the ongoing pandemic on the tribal population in India is not well understood. In this study, we evaluated the seroprevalence of COVID-19 antibodies in the tribal population of Odisha post-second wave (September 2021). ⋯ This study found high seroprevalence against SARS-CoV-2 in the tribal population of Odisha. The vaccination coverage is at par with the general population, and efforts to address some knowledge gaps may be needed to improve the coverage in the future.
