Bone health, especially osteoporosis among ageing populations, has become an important topic for both clinical and basic researchers. The relationship between bone health and healthy lifestyles has been frequently discussed. The present study focuses on the relationship between bone health and healthy lifestyles among older adults, based on a global comparison. ⋯ Healthy lifestyles are highly related to bone health, and different lifestyles may have different influences on regions with a high risk of bone diseases. It is practical to acknowledge the diversity of economic, religious, environmental and geological conditions in each region when providing suitable and effective recommendations for healthy lifestyles that can improve overall bone health.

Baseline brain metastasis (BBM) commonly occurs in anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK)-rearranged non-small cell lung cancer. Crizotinib prolongs the survival of patients with ALK rearrangement but lacks significant effect on brain metastasis. It remains unclear whether BBM and local therapy affect therapeutic outcomes and progression patterns during crizotinib treatment. ⋯ A significantly higher occurrence rate of multiple progression was noted in patients with BBM (14/49 vs. 6/53). Baseline intracranial metastasis changes the location and number of progressions after the first-line crizotinib and results in poor prognosis. There is no evidence that local treatment for brain metastasis had a protective effect on intracranial progression.

Biomechanical analysis of the closed reduction internal fixation with cannulated screw of femoral neck fractures.
The influencing factors in closed reduction internal fixation with cannulated screw of femoral neck fractures have not been well investigated. This study evaluated these factors in patients with femoral neck fractures. Fifty-seven patients (36 males and 21 females) diagnosed with femoral neck fracture with the average age of 52.44 ± 15.04 years who underwent closed reduction internal fixation with cannulated screw were included in this study. ⋯ The main factors affecting clinical outcomes were functional recovery and reduction quality. The biomechanical effects of fixation provide a good foundation for fracture healing. Patient's conditions should be carefully evaluated before selecting reduction procedures to reach an optimal surgical outcome.

Intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring (IONM) has been utilized not only for the rapid detection of neural insults during surgeries, but also to verify the neurophysiological integrity of nerve lesions in the surgical field. ⋯ IONM during peripheral nerve surgeries can support surgical decisions and confirm the location and degree of nerve damage.

Self-perception of theoretical knowledges and practical skills by primary health care physicians in life-threatening emergencies according to their gender: A cross-sectional study.
To assess the training received in Emergency Medicine (EM) by the Primary Health Care physicians of Asturias, as well as their perception of their own theoretical knowledge and practical skills in a series of procedures employed in life-threatening emergencies, and also to analyze the differences according to gender. The degree of preparation of Primary Health Care physicians for handling emergencies, according to the gender of the professionals, has never been studied before. Cross-sectional study of a sample of 213 Primary Health Care physicians from the Primary Health Care Service of Asturias, Spain, from among the total of 851 physicians on the staff of the Primary Health Care Service of Asturias. ⋯ There are nonsignificant differences in the mean of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in many procedures or techniques studied depending on the gender. Female and male Asturian Primary Health Care physicians are generally well prepared to handle life-threatening emergencies. The degree of self-perception and acquisition of general theoretical knowledge and general practical skills for handling life-threatening emergencies is heterogeneous, and differences according to gender are not statistically significant.
