The safety and efficacy of low-dose mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists in dialysis patients: A meta-analysis.
Our aim was to evaluate the safety and efficacy of low-dose mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists (MRAs) in dialysis patients. ⋯ Low-dose MRAs may benefit dialysis patients without significantly increasing moderate to severe hyperkalemia.

Efficacy and safety of immunosuppressive therapies in the treatment of high-risk IgA nephropathy: A network meta-analysis.
IgA nephropathy (IgAN) is one of the significant contributing factors of end-stage renal disease (ESRD). It is reported that over half of patients with IgAN accompany multiple high-risk factors, which increase the risk of ESRD progression. Studies have shown that immunosuppressive agents were beneficial in high-risk IgAN, but the efficacy and safety have not been fully demonstrated yet. The present study aims to elucidate the efficacy of commonly used immunosuppressants in high-risk IgAN and their relative safety profiles via a network meta-analysis strategy. ⋯ MMF+CS and LEF+CS appear to serve as the best choice for treating high-risk IgAN than other immunosuppressive therapies.

Meropenem monotherapy vs ceftazidime plus amikacin have been approved for use against febrile neutropenia. To assess the effectiveness and safety of them for empirical treatment of cancer patients with febrile neutropenia, we conducted a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trial. ⋯ Ceftazidime plus amikacin should be the first choice for empirical treatment of cancer patients with febrile neutropenia, and meropenem may be chosen as a last defense against pathogenic bacteria.

Suspected myocarditis in patients with COVID-19: A multicenter case series.
Although myocarditis can be a severe cardiac complication of COVID-19 patients, few data are available in the literature about the incidence and clinical significance in patients affected by SARS-CoV-2. This study aims to describe the prevalence and the clinical features of suspected myocarditis in 3 cohorts of patients hospitalized for COVID-19. We retrospectively evaluated all the consecutive patients admitted for COVID-19 without exclusion criteria. ⋯ Otherwise, there was a significantly higher need for oxygen-support and a higher prevalence of cardiac disease in the myocarditis group. Patients with suspected myocarditis were older, had a higher frequency of previous cardiac disease, and significantly more prolonged hospitalization and a lower value of interleukin-6 than other COVID-19 patients. Further studies, specifically designed on this issue, are warranted.

A simplified protocol for individualized regional citrate anticoagulation for hemodialysis: A single-center, randomized clinical study.
The lack of individualized treatment protocols and complicated procedures are important factors limiting the use of regional citrate anticoagulation (RCA) technology in hemodialysis. This study aims to validate the safety and efficacy of a simplified individualized RCA protocol for hemodialysis. ⋯ The simplified individualized RCA protocol is safe, effective, and easy to implement. Therefore, this protocol can be promoted for clinical practice.
