Targeted cancer therapies involve chemotherapeutic agents that attack, directly or indirectly, a specific genetic biomarker found in a given cancer. Targeted oncology includes monoclonal antibodies, small molecule inhibitors, antibody-drug conjugates, and immunotherapy. For example, the monoclonal antibodies trastuzumab and pertuzumab target human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) and are used when treating HER2-positive breast cancer. ⋯ Additionally, financial toxicities are a problem for patients with cancer who are using costly targeted therapies. Future directions for targeted oncology include tumor-agnostic drugs, which target a given mutation and could be used in treating cancers from multiple organ types. An overview of indications, mechanism of action, and toxicities of targeted cancer therapies is offered here.

Randomized Controlled TrialVirtual reality mobile application to improve videoscopic airway training: A randomised trial.
Flexible bronchoscopic intubation (FBI) is an important technique in managing an anticipated difficult airway, yet it is rarely performed and has a steep learning curve. We aim to evaluate if the integration of virtual reality gaming application into routine FBI training for emergency department doctors would be more effective than traditional teaching methods. ⋯ Incorporating virtual reality with traditional teaching methods allows learners to be trained on FBI safely without compromising patient care. Junior physicians appear to benefit more compared to senior physicians.

Randomized Controlled TrialComparison of Efficacy of Teriparatide (Parathyroid Hormone 1-34) Alone and in Combination with Zoledronic Acid for Osteoporosis in Postmenopausal Women.
The purpose of this study was to compare the efficacy of teriparatide (parathyroid hormone 1-34) alone and in combination with zoledronic acid (ZA) for the treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. Ninety-six patients were randomly equally divided into Groups A (n=48) and B (n=48). Group A was given parathyroid hormone 1-34 alone. ⋯ After 6 months of treatment, VAS score, serum OPN and S-CTX levels in Group B were significantly lower than those in Group A (p=0.001, p<0.001 and p<0.001, respectively); and BMD values of lumbar vertebrae L2-4, femoral neck and total hip bone in Group B were higher than those of Group A (p=0.002, p=0.028 and p<0.001, respectively). In conclusion, parathyroid hormone 1-34 plus ZA is more effective than parathyroid hormone 1-34 alone in treating post postmenopausal osteoporosis. Key Words: Teriparatide (parathyroid hormone 1-34, Zoledronic acid (ZA), Postmenopausal, Osteoporosis, Bone mineral density (BMD).

Rheumatoid meningitis (RM) is a rare complication of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). RM mimics many other conditions such as subdural empyema, unsteady gait, focal brain dysfunction, stroke, relapsing-remitting motor signs, headache, neuropsychiatric disorders, seizures, parkinsonism, and meningeal tumors. RM is considered a disease with poor prognosis. ⋯ She worsened and required endotracheal intubation. Cyclophosphamide was started and the patient became asymptomatic three months later. We propose that treatment should not be delayed waiting a biopsy when a diagnosis of RM is made and after a cerebrospinal fluid infection has been ruled out.
