Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyComparison of automated and manual control methods in minimal flow anesthesia.
New-generation anesthesia machines administer inhalation anesthetics and automatically control the fresh gas flow (FGF) rate. This study compared the administration of minimal flow anesthesia (MFA) using the automatically controlled anesthesia (ACA) module of the Mindray A9 (Shenzhen, China) anesthesia machine versus manual control by an anesthesiologist. ⋯ The ACA mode was more advantageous than the MCA mode, reaching target AA concentrations faster and requiring fewer adjustments to achieve a constant depth of anesthesia.

Identify changes and trends in the real value of Medicare payments for anesthesia services between 2000 and 2020 and how it may affect practices. ⋯ Average Medicare payment for common anesthesia services after adjusting for inflation have decreased from 2000 to 2020, consistent with findings in other physician specialties. Understanding these trends is important for practice viability and suggests significant financial implications for anesthesia practices and hospitals if the trend were to continue.

The effect of two different modes of anaesthesia maintenance on postoperative delirium in elderly patient with low preoperative mini-cog score.
Postoperative delirium is a common distressing symptom experienced following laparoscopic cholecystectomy. The study aimed to investigate the influence of a low preoperative Mini-Cog testing score and 2 different anesthesia methods: total intravenous anaesthesia (TIVA) versus sevoflurane, on postoperative delirium in elderly patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy. ⋯ Low Mini-Cog score was an indicator of a higher risk of early postoperative delirium. Sevoflurane is more likely to cause postoperative delirium than TIVA.
