Multicenter Study
Development and validation of the Ex-Care BR model: a multicentre initiative for identifying Brazilian surgical patients at risk of 30-day in-hospital mortality.
Surgical risk stratification is crucial for enhancing perioperative assistance and allocating resources efficiently. However, existing models may not capture the complexity of surgical care in Brazil. Using data from various healthcare settings nationwide, we developed a new risk model for 30-day in-hospital mortality (the Ex-Care BR model). ⋯ NCT05796024.

Outpatient and Ambulatory Extended Recovery Robotic Hepatectomy: Multinational Study of 307 Cases.
For open minor hepatectomy, morbidity and recovery are dominated by the incision. The robotic approach may transform this "incision dominant procedure" into a safe outpatient procedure. ⋯ Outpatient robotic hepatectomy in well-selected cases is safe (0 mortality, 2% complication, and 1.6% readmission), including resection in the superior or posterior portions of the liver that is challenging with nonarticulating laparoscopic instruments.

Medical certification of the cause of death provides epidemiological information for developing cause-specific mortality and disease trends, guiding the monitoring of health programmes and allocating health resources. Therefore, providing correct information on the cause of death is essential. This study describes the errors in medical certification of the cause of death in India. ⋯ Absence of time intervals was the most common type of certification error (62.3-99.5%). Training of doctors to accurately certify the medical cause of death and its addition to medical education is urgently needed to ensure accurate information for mortality-related statistics. A uniform methodology for auditing and reporting errors in medical certification of cause of death should be adopted.

Meta Analysis
An Evaluation of Risk Factors for Intracranial Metastases of Sarcomas: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.
Sarcomas, a group of neoplasms comprising both tissue and bone soft tissue tumors, has an increasing prevalence in recent years. Prognosis significantly hinges on early detection, and if not detected early, may consequently metastasize. This review will be the first systematic review and meta-analysis characterizing the presentation and progression of brain metastases from bone and soft tissue cancers. ⋯ Our study observed no statistically significant differences in mortality rate among several patient risk factors. Consequentially, there lacks a clear answer as to whether or not an association between mortality rates exists with these patient factors. As such, it is important to continue research in brain-metastasizing sarcomas despite their relative rarity.
