Observational Study
Acute hospitalizations and outcomes in Veterans Affairs Hospitals 2011 to 2017.
Hospitals within the Veterans Affairs (VA) health care system exhibited growing use of observation care. It is unknown how this affected VA hospital performance since observation care is not included in acute inpatient measures. Meta Analysis
Daylight Saving Time Transitions and Risk of Heart Attack—a Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.
The health risks of daylight saving time transitions are intensely debated. Disturbed circadian rhythms and lack of sleep after transitions might increase the risk of acute myocardial infarction (AMI). The only meta-analysis on the risk of AMI has now been considerably expanded. ⋯ Current evidence suggests that there may be an increased risk of AMI after the spring transition, although there is moderate to marked heterogeneity among the studies that support this conclusion. More easily interpretable studies, such as those already conducted in the field of economics, should clarify associations with the aid of discontinuity regression and placebo tests. To this end, comparative risk analyses using years or places wherein daylight saving time was not practiced would be suitable.

Chile is contending with the highest rates of new human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) cases in both Latin America and globally, despite substantial ongoing investments in treatment. This comprehensive study, derived from PUBMED and Google searches, ANID data, and various organizational reports, highlights key areas for improvement. Over the past decade, Chile's annual infection rate has risen, signaling an urgent need for detailed analysis and effective solutions. ⋯ Chile faces significant challenges in meeting the 90/90/90 targets, yet there is optimism in aiming for the 95/95/95 strategy by 2030. Achieving success requires a global commitment, an emphasis on prevention, and collaborative efforts among authorities, healthcare providers, and patients. Overcoming these identified barriers is essential for Chile to reach its ambitious goal and ultimately end the HIV epidemic.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) has emerged as an effective treatment or adjunct therapy for various disorders, prioritizing improving oxygen delivery to tissues. This qualitative inquiry aims to explore the psychological experiences of patients undergoing their first hyperbaric session, focusing on the emotional responses and information needs of patients. The study addresses the gap in understanding patient experiences and seeks to contribute to holistic care approaches and improved health outcomes for patients undergoing HBOT. ⋯ The findings revealed the importance of comprehensive patient education and effective communication by healthcare providers to alleviate initial fears and improve treatment experiences for HBOT patients. Future research should expand to other regions and include healthcare providers' perspectives to further validate these findings and enhance HBOT practices. Integrating psychological support into the treatment process may also benefit patients, promoting holistic care and improving overall health outcomes.
