Safety and Efficacy of Colchicine in Patients with Stable CAD and ACS: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis.
Evidence from recent trials has shown conflicting results in terms of the utility of colchicine in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD). ⋯ In patients presenting with ACS, low-dose colchicine might reduce the incidence of MACE, stroke, and the need for revascularization at long follow-up durations. Colchicine might offer no benefits in reducing the risk of ischemic events in patients with stable angina.

ReviewImproving medication adherence in hypertensive patients: A scoping review.
In recent years, interest in medication adherence has greatly increased. Adherence has been particularly well studied in the context of arterial hypertension treatment. Numerous interventions have addressed this issue, however, the effort to improve adherence has been often frustrating and frequently disorganized. ⋯ Each study's intervention was then categorized using a novel evidence-based system of categorization, derived from the conceptual clustering framework used in machine learning. This work is an important step in pushing for better informed and more efficient future research efforts, both by providing an overview of the research field and by creating a new, evidence-based intervention categorization tool. It also provides valuable information to clinicians about medication adherence to antihypertensive therapy.

Randomized Controlled TrialUltrasound-Guided Standard vs Dual-Target Subacromial Corticosteroid Injections for Shoulder Impingement Syndrome: A Randomized Controlled Trial.
To compare dual-target injection with standard ultrasound (US)-guided subacromial injection in patients with subacromial impingement syndrome (SIS) and possible disorders of the biceps long-head tendons. ⋯ US-guided dual-target corticosteroid injection showed similar short-term efficacy to standard subacromial injections, but with an extended duration of symptom relief. Therefore, dual-target corticosteroid injections may be useful for shoulder pain treatment in patients with SIS.

How parents of teens store and monitor prescription drugs in the home.
Qualitative interviews were conducted with parents of teens to explore how parents store and monitor prescription drugs in the home. Most parents had prescription drugs in the house, but took few precautions against teens accessing these drugs. ⋯ Reasons given for not securing drugs were that parents did not think that their teens would be interested in their prescription drugs and did not believe that they could be used to get high. This study highlights the need for parents to be educated about securing prescription drugs, the dangers of non-medical prescription drug use by teens, and which drugs might be used for non-medical purposes.

Age-associated B cells (ABCs) are a unique subset of B cells defined by surface CD11b and CD11c expression. Although ABC expansion has been observed in both human and animal studies in the setting of advanced age, during humoral autoimmunity and following viral infection, the functional properties of this cellular subset remain incompletely defined. In the current study, we demonstrate that ABCs fulfill the criteria for memory B cells (MBCs), based on evidence of Ag-dependent expansion and persistence in a state poised for rapid differentiation into Ab-secreting plasma cells during secondary responses. ⋯ Fourth, ABCs express MBC surface markers consistent with being poised for rapid plasma cell differentiation during recall responses. Finally, in a murine model of viral infection, adoptively transferred CD11c+ B cells rapidly differentiated into class-switched Ab-secreting cells upon Ag rechallenge. In summary, we phenotypically and functionally characterize ABCs as IgM-expressing MBCs, findings that together implicate ABCs in the pathogenesis of systemic autoimmunity.
