AbstractCystic lymphangioma is a developmental malformation of the lymphatic system. It is extremely rare for this type of tumor to arise from retroperitoneum in newborns. We present a male mature newborn infant with a retroperitoneal cystic lymphangioma proven by autopsy. The clinical manifestation of chylous ascites may mimic retroperitoneal cystic lymphangioma. The finding in supine abdomen X ray and abdominal sonography may help us to make some differential diagnosis.
